Hi Dippy!! I just went on and read/rated it for you Will get on at some point this week and read/rate everyone, so you all don't think I'm picking favourites That book sounds really good though!
I'm trying to decide whether to revive NIMs account on Dooyoo since he wasn't blocked, but I think I've just lost all faith in them.
Dinah - The new challenges sound good. Like the sounds of making a quilt Shame to hear you don't think you'll be able to make much money from your paintings/prints I wouldn't give up on it yet though, you've only just really started and it'll take a while to make a name for yourself on etsy.
Aye but so far I've spent a lot more on listing things than I've made. I do feel maybe I've given up very quickly, but equally the ammount of time I've put into trying to market it and gotten no return at all, tells me its not a saleable product.roomontheend wrote: »Hi, everyone hope you are all well. I know that it may have seemed that I had fallen off the face of the earth but I have been rather busy. We have just arrived back from center parcs and we all had a great time. I for one found it very relaxing and completly forgot about school and all the marking I have to do before I go back.
We got a call while we were there regarding the mortgage, not good news I'm afraid. We were looking to borrow an additional £72,000 to pay off CC and convert the building we own. We haven't had the full feedback but as it stands they won't give us the mortgage. We will contact them on Tuesday and see what they have to say. We already have planning past to convert so we may look into selling it as it stands.
I also need to look into insurance cover we have with the morgage as I may be able to make a claim now that OH is not working.
Right I am going to spend the next hour catching up so please type slowly.roomontheend wrote: »Thanks Dippy I now need to have a rethink. Does any one know how to go about freezing or reducing cc interest without going into VL or going bankrupt. I have heard there are a few companies that help.
The link from Lara is just what you need, but the first thing you need to ask yourself is are you willing for your credit file to take a hit? If you want to get a morgage or any other credit in the near future, and you are able to make at least the minimum payments on all your cards now, then going into a debt management plan (which is what you are talking about) is quite a drastic step. There are a couple of companies (Payplan and CCCS spring to mind) who do DMPs for free, so please, please do not pay a company to do you one - they are exactly the same and these vultures just profit from panic and lack of knowledge from people who are in debt desperate for a way out.
If you still have a good credit rating can you not do a balance transfer to a 0% card? This will have no impact on your credit rating. Alternatively could you extend the morgage just to pay of the CC, not convert the building, as this is much less money. Obviously in the long run you will pay off approx double on the debt if you put it on the morgage to what you will pay off if you pay it off credit cards, but if you're struggling this choice is down to you.
Finally have you looked into a bridging loan to do the works, instead of the morgage? Its not something I know a huge ammount about, but I have had some dealings with people using them to do works to convert properties seperate from their own homes at work, and it seems to be an easy, common way to do things. Basically it is borrowing against the projected value of the project, if it's likely to be worth £100,000 when completed they might only be willing to loan half that, because it is a risk to the bank, but it might be worth a shot xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Thank Dinah, we are going to contact the building society tomorrow and see what the crack is. I was starting to make good head way on paying off the cc's but OH hasn't had any income for such a long time and still no word on any dole money. So I feel like we are just keeping our heads above the water. Although I do feel that OH has had his LBM (at long last), he has been out once since christmas and now makes comments like "if we do it this way it will be cheaper" and "no I'd rather save the money". I just need to push him into a job. He has no real qualifications and is very put off when a job states desirable qualifications. I have tried telling him that he has more to offer than qualifications he has life experience and traferable skills.Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳

When my ex was out of work he found unless he went down there several times a week his dole money would never appear, it was one of the ways to weed out the have nots from the could nots.
Maybe post on the house buying board to see if there is a way to get the money to do up the building?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Dinah can I ask what happened to make your knee so bad? Is it from loads of running or sports or something, or just life? I know you might not know, I was just interested sorry0

No its fine Tink. The honest answer is they have no idea. It usually occurs in teenage girls when the limb grows faster than the body (for some reason they dont know) is able to produce tissue, which thins it out as it stretches, and if they rest it and do physio eventually it grows back. Basically giving the body time to grow into its new shape. It also occurs in the over 45s, which they think is likely to be caused by wear and tear possibly aggrivated through sports or high heels, but they're the first to admit they don't really know! In the over 45s it is more likely surgery is required, and this may or may not actually fix the problem. The fact that I've got it in my mid 20s is a complete freak anomaly, however it has been coming on for years (although not since my teens!). However I have probably gotten 45 years of high heel wearing into my 25 years, before this kicked off I was rarely out of them! I'm scared I might be in the 'not fixable' category, but I haven't told anyone this is even an option yet as it'll certainly panic my mum, so I'll cross that bridge if I have to, but for now I'm optemistic about surgery and physio.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

oooh thats so bad! I bet youll be a real trainers convert when its all fixed (finger crossed it can be fixed!!) I thought I had heard of something similar to the growing thing though yeah but it is really bad that you have it now and so young
I am really rooting for you and hope it can get fixed!!
on another and completely random note (i am soooo not a psyco girlfriend honest!) I was looking at weddings the other day, and it is so expensive! I never really realised before! Like minimum £40 a head for food, OMG. Rip off!! Dinah where have you decided on for yours?0 -
I hope it's OK by your wedding so you can wear those fab Louboutin heels Dinah!
Sorry things are difficult at the minute ROTE, I can't really offer advice as I'm clueless! I hope your OH gets some money coming in soon either through benefits or a job!
I had a fall out with A&L on Saturday, my old current account was with them but when we moved in together I changed to Halifax and I just remembered the old A&L account so I had a look at it and they've been charging me £5 a month under funding fee! Gits! Luckily I had a bit of money left in there so it never went overdrawn (which would have cost even more!) but still! I feel robbed! The account has now been closed! I then went to withdraw my money from Butlins Bingo and the bank account details they have are my A&L ones so I'm going to have to make a phone call to change my details so I actually get my money as you can't do it online with money in your account! Grrrr.
I also cancelled a useless insurance policy that was costing £23 a month and I've set OH on the job of finding a cheaper health insurance company as he pays £65 a month for one policy (breaks and hospital stays) and £88 a quarter for another (£600 a month whilst signed off work)! Eeek! That's some expensive insurance! And they've just cut the benefits so it really isn't worth it. He's just going to go to the doctor this week to ask for his nose to be sorted (an old rugby injury, it whistles and clicks!) and if he can get something from his insurance for having it done he'll keep it so he can ge the pay out otherwise it'll be cancelled ASAP.
All I have to do now is ring BT and cut out the bits we don't need and we should be saving a fair bit of money each month!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
