Having a LOT of trouble with my knee today, finding it hard to find any way to even sit. This is the first time I've been angry that its shot, I want it fixed now, I want to be able to do things again.

NIM is an angel, I'm so not happy with my giant dress I want to make something else, so he's going to pick me up some lining and a zip on his way home after work.

On the plus side I paid another £41 off the CC today. This brings me to £120 since Sunday, which I'm pretty chuffed with. I did a huge chart on Saturday, on graph paper. Each square indicates £1 I need to pay off or save. Its broken down to a lot of smaller sections like 'cc' 'student od' 'morgage payments' 'decorating' 'survey' 'conveyancing' the biggest one by far is the 'bath fund'. In total all the sections come to £26,000! But I don't need all of them before the wedding, for example I'll be suprised if we manage to get anyway close to the bathroom fund before then! This is of course all assuming we actually get the deposit. NIM is going to walk his mum through downloading skype tonight, so he can talk to her for a decent amount of time, he thinks she might be able to help with the deposit. Daft thing is I know his dad has £20,000 in an English account he transfered over when he was thinking of expanding the business here and never got around to moving back, so it really shouldn't be this much of an issue!

Plus I need to add about 5" around my ribs and loose a similar amount in height to make it fit!

I see whare I was confused now - I thought you meant add the material of the dress around the ribs, and lose it from the length, think that may have been the wine :o

You've finished though?!?! How's that, last Wednesday you'd only done half a bust piece, and that was inside out and upside down! :rotfl: How did you manage that?! I need to get my bum in gear and just do the zip and hem on mine - they won't take long if I just sit down and do them...

Hopefully it'll fit your Mum, at least someone will get some use out of it!

Only took about 3 hours in total. I haven't put the zip in, but I have no need of one! Its kind of like what we were saying, if you just sit down and crack on, its not really that much work.

I doubt mum would wear it to be honest, my seams are a bit bumpy and its scarily shiny!

  • It's not! I think we work ourselves up and scare ourselves sometimes about how hard it is, but it isn't really! I feel all motivated at the minute!

Couldn't help but laugh at Tete getting confused, but tbh I was pretty confused by it all!

Dinah - I'm surprised you're only just getting angry about your knee, I would have cracked ages ago! Sorry it's giving you major grief today though.

Glad you all like Greg :D

Oooh, how exciting Cinny, is Greg settling into his new family well?

His car-face seems happy enough! He has another Clio & 2 meganes to keep him company.

Found out one of my old best friends is pregnant today, she'll make a great Mum but she's only a week or so older than me. I know my age isn't really classed as 'young' for getting pregnant anymore, but I can't help thinking 'She's too young to have a baby!'

Arghh, all the money talk makes me feel guilty though! (specially after catching up on Tetes thread) Although I'm saving £50pw atm, it's all towards things I need to pay for so it feels cancelled out!

What because I'm moaning about being skint? Just ignore me! :D

Missed that post Dinah, NIM is indeed an angel - what are you going to make? Is this instead of the dress for project one?

Depends if she'll let me swap! I'm just going to make a skirt or I have a pattern for a short dress - both use very little fabric so its a good practice piece without costing the earth.

Just done my domestic Goddess bit, made a big one pot thingy with leftover chicken, tomatoes, onion, broccoli, green beans, lots of lentils, some tomato puree, ginger, a spoonful of treacle, few herbs and a load of water. Should be fairly healthy, filling and I can just shove it in the oven at 4.30 ish and it'll be ready whenever NIM gets home.

  • I'm sure she'll let you, how much have you written on the sheets about what made you decide on that piece? Have you done a Mood board for the long dress, that might be a chew on to do another one of those...

Nope not yet, I found lots of images but haven't stuck them on yet. Don't think I even know where the sheets are anymore! Are you thinking of doing the level 2 course?

  • I don't know, hadn't thought about it. Probably not if all we'll be doing is sitting about finding our own way with it - apart from the odd question I have I always feel I'd get a lot more done at home than I do at the classes, now I know some of the basics. I'd like to do the one-off pattern drafting course they mentions though, I think that would be really useful. What about you?
