Hi Avogirly, I can't believe how much debt you've cleared, well done!

Dinah, honeymoon will be worth it, you shouldn't spend too much money whilst you're there (I don't really expect you and NIM to leave your room!) and it'll be amazing. Once you have babies it'll be Butlins all the way so enjoy having a blow out honeymoon!

Oh, and good luck with the £100-£10k challenge! Keep us updated. I'm fascinated by the idea but there's no way I could do it because as you all know I'm useless!

I thought we'd escaped more snow since it hadn't snowed overnight... but NO, it's started again now with a vengeance! What's the point of it snowing if we can't have a snow day? Well done you Poolie for being nice and helping some stuck people get home! My Dad did that once; he pushed a woman (in her car obviously!) up a hill because she got stuck at the bottom and she just drove off without helping him get up so he was stranded until someone would come and help him!

Oooh, and how's the knee Dinah? And the chest infection Cinny? Who else is poorly? Tete, how's the sore throat?!

There were 2 cars behind me but they had stopped at the bottom of the hill so stood a chance of getting up.

It was a challenge to get going in second gear to keep the torque down. Remembering not to follow the other car tracks so I could get some grip.

Well Mrs Poolie has just found out that she doesn't have to go to work today so you can guess where she has gone back ......... Bed curled up with 2 duvets!

Lol we're taking £2000 spending money on the honeymoon, almost all for when we're in Dubai, as there are quite a few things to see and do there, and some very lavish restaurants to check out. I might end up in a cottage in France, but I will never be at Butlin, I can't even go to York in mid summer for fear of being approached by a street performer.

£100-£10k challenge started yesterday, I ordered £52 of stock from a wholesaler selling bankrupt merchants stock, so we'll see how I get on with that. I also picked up a £30 reimbursement MS for a supermarkets home delivery service, so thats £30 of groceries plus a £5 delivery charge, and my mum is going to buy the groceries off me, so thats another £30 made for £5 outlay. Not counting anything till it hits my account though, and only counting things that I invested in such as ebay, etsy etc, rather than dooyoo, free scratchies etc.

We've got hail this morning, like driving on ball bearings apparently.

Knee is the same as ever, going to see what happens at the doctors today.

    :rotfl: Well exactly!

Morning, weather not too bad at all here, though the place is like a ghost town except for our little team and two managers - I think because the managers have made it in they expect us to be here too. Fingers crossed for some snow so we get an early finish.

Poolie you are a total angel aren't you? I always feel bad driving past breakdowns but in all honesty there's not a lot I or my little roller skate could do to help anyone!

I'll be interested to see how you go with the challenge Dinah, I'm not really up for the investing aspects of it - it'll be time consuming and with the initial outlay - it's not the sort of thing I want to be concentrating on this year.

I won £5 on BB yesterday and was under the impression that £5 was the maximum balance you could have before depositing so thought I'd be able to withdraw it, but when I tried it said my balance exceeded amount allowed for deposits, so I played 50p of it through and tried again and it said the same. So f--- that sh--, I'm not going to go back on that site at all even though I'll still be getting bonus money, it's too fiddly and risky with all its rules and caveats.

Hope yr knee feels better soon. Birdie my throat's fine, never quite developed into anything after OH force fed me hot whiskey at the weekend :)

Well fingers crossed for being sent home from work everyone!

This is my final year for madcap challenges for a while, after this I intend to take a few years off, settle into my new house and start a family, but this should give me the push to start trying the creative business ideas, see if anything sticks, and get a solid financial foundation behind us so we don't need to worry about money so much. If this challenge suceeds an extra £10k would be amazing, could go straight off the mogage/pay for the Japan trip and some furniture.

ETA: Tete are you going to sewing class tonight?

Sounds like you're progressing well on the challenge already Dinah! I'm too flakey with challenges for me to actually complete that one. If it goes well with selling things it would be a great boost to your Wedding savings.

The chest infection isn't getting much better Birdie, but I've found some silver linings. Like my cough medicine tasting like calpol, and I can only stomach fruit salads (the fruit this time) so no doubt my diet is going well!

Hope everyone was alright in the snow if you're at work! My Sister got a snow day yesterday because they closed Meadowhall, and today too I think. My Mum has used me as an excuse to skip work though :o But she works in a National Trust house with zero heating so I can't blame her.
  • No I don't blame her either Cinny, and I can't imagine many people will be making the journey to a NT house on a snowy Wednesday in January?? Hope you feel better soon.

Dinah good idea on using the challenge as a sounding board for what will make money, I hadn't thought of that! Not sure about sewing class TBH, have been checking their website - evening classes were cancelled yesterday but today they say they're trying to operate as normal but some things are cancelled, see news page for more datails ... but then the news page just says open as normal. I'll maybe give them a ring later on, but if I get sent home from work I'm certainly not trawling back to Boro for it!

I've sent an email to Claire to say I won't be there this evening, so I can cross that off the to mental do list. In fact I've made myself a very mini to do list. As I expect to be off until the end of the week if not longer, these are some niggling jobs I can hopefully be getting on with.

    1. Upload paintings prints to Etsy
    2. Upload a couple more of my photos. Try to do one a day rather than all at once so it raises my shop profile.
    3. Finish writing website info
    4. Call BHS
    5. Call Butlins bingo
    6. Do RE MS
    7. Cancel GR MS
    8. Update diary with MS dates
    9. 3 Dooyoos per day
    10. Get financial ombudsman form in
    11. Do cat insurance forms
    12. tidy room (bits I don't have to bend to anyway! Like the paperwork on the desk, can just grab a stack and sort it in bed)
    13. Call Tesco re OU vouchers
    14. Finish clearing/transfering data from old mobile
    15. send off old mobile phone
    16. Book honeymoon
    17. Write to gym to cancel membership
    18. Book photographers
    19. Package and sent parcels

Yay to Tete going home early! We'll be here until the end, stupid horrid greedy company I work for! We've got poor drivers out in the snow again; normally our company is H&S mad, I just don't understand why they're risking the drivers' safety for the sake of a few deliveries. A lot of the shops that we're delivering to are closed anyway because they've decided that it isn't worth coming to work and we still haven't taken the hint! Grrrr, it makes me mad!
