Thanks for that. No ethnic shops around here unfortunately, but I do sometimes browse Sally's website and coo at all the weird and wonderful ingredients!

I'll look forward to reading what you think of the other things you make from the book.

    Hello

I just made tomato flatbreads from this months sburys magazine. I made them in a griddle pan not on the BBQ and they were delicious. Rather than make the dough by hand I used my bread maker on the pizza setting.

    Highly recommended

Hi can i join in please?

I used to cook some lovely recipes for dinners and then life got in the way and my budget nosedived so we have been living on cheap and cheerful, but i am a bit sick and tired of eating the same stuff, i do try to mix it up a bit, but still, i have so many cookbooks and i tear recipes out of Good Food magazine and Sainsburys magazine so have now decided to make one/two new recipes a week. Tonights was Caramelised Onion and Goats Cheese Frittata from a Good Food recipe, it was lush and went down well with us all, definitely a keeper, sorry no photo it was gone pretty quick :) it was also very easy and quick.

I made Kookoo sabzi tonight - ok, so they're just herb omelettes really but it was following a recipe (from Veggiestan again) so they count.

The addition of flour and baking powder made them seem like a more substantial snack than normal omelettes. I made the version with crushed walnuts, which I probably wouldn't have thought of putting in an omelette myself. I had to use fenugreek powder instead of the sprig of fresh fenugreek and I've got no idea how big the bunches of fresh coriander and parsley were meant to be; piddly little supermarket ones or the armfuls sold by the ethnic shops? Definitely not a precision sort of recipe!

They weren't anything really special, but they were quite tasty and made a perfect quick weekday meal with some of yesterday's spicy carrot salad, baby tomatoes and a bit of garlic mayo. I'll definitely make them again.

I made custard creams and they were scrummy. They were so easy to make too and I will definitely be baking them again.
The recipe is from Nigella's Feast book.
I don't have that book, but found the recipe here:

I made courgette and feta fritters last night using a recipe from the Riverford site. Not bad, but grating the courgettes took forever and they were missing something. I'll try adding some lemon zest and parsley before I fry the next batch. I've still got loads of the batter left. Much more pepper too. And maybe some sort of dipping sauce...

It made a good dent in my huge haul of courgettes. :T

Mint is often paired with courgettes. Might be worth trying that.
