i made lime chicken today :) kinda like lemon roast chicken but with lime,
it was lovely, perhaps a bit strong, but definetly going to have it again :)

its just a standard roast chicken with chopped limes inside

i've got a few new cook books recently - finding Diana Henry Food From Plenty very inspiring - lots of ideas for leftovers, pulses, cheap cuts but with lots of exciting flavours. Last night I made my own (lower fat) take on her lamb kofta tagine with dates and preserved lemon - wow!

Also got a new slow cooker book that a friend recommended, an ancient version of the Good Housekeeping Cookery Book and River Cafe Easy in the charity shop!

Hellooooo again  I must do this again :j.....I really enjoyed doing this cookery book challenge when I started it and it did expand my skills and my taste experiences

Not sure how lidl bread mixes quite fit in with the original idea but hey I guess its a thought :D

I am sure you wont be surprised to hear that my challenge did not actually stop me buying new books and in the past year I have probably added at least 4 :o:o

So back to the challenge again then - this week I will cook something different from my books ........now what to choose :):)

well hun this is the way I see it.......did you read some instructions on how to do it? If so that is a recipe in my book and you haven't tried it before therefore it is a new recipe challenge :cool:

i am a recent convert to lidl so may well need to check those out :):)

btw and I will be shot down and ostrasized for this but I have never and probably will never make my own bread when the local bakeries in my supermarkets can do it so much better them me :rotfl:

Nice to meet you and lets share recipes in the future :T

I've come to the realisation (yet again) that I have far too many cook books/magazines.

Sooo, I'm gonna be cooking my way through them all this year with a view to collating our favourites (cauliflower biryani, hot and sour pork and peppers, good food no fuss lasange, chilli from 'grandma's favourite recipes', etc.) and getting rid of all the magazine clippings/unused books.

If nothing else, it'll free up quite a bit of space :rotfl:

I'm de-cookbooking too & have a substantial pile of 'oh that looks good!' ... then ... 'boring nothing I'm really interested in cooking after all'

that said, I recently got myself a first edition of Harold McGee's 'On Food & Cooking' just to see what the differences are between that & the current edition *geek* :D;)

This challenge is for those of us who are stuck in a bit of a rut with our cooking. Typically we also have have loads of cookbooks and recipes cut out of magazines that we don't use. The challenge is to commit to try a new recipe a month and feedback on how easy it was, how good value for money it was and how good it tasted. It is very OS as we are cooking from scratch and using the cook books we have to get best value from them. So, lets get those cook books out and get cooking.
