Right back on track today after a fray bentos pie yesterday and yet another Lamb kebab on monday :D

Today I am doing Jamie 30min Haddock Chowder a big fat salad and some crusty bread :j
  • I'm trying to get back on track with my diet so I've tried to copy Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia frozen yoghurt. I love Cherry Garcia and it's lower in fat then ice cream, really hope my effort turns out ok because otherwise I'm gonna have wasted a lot of cherries and need a sweet fix, hmm.

    Isn't it just

Got 3 fresh and very large scallops at the fish monger too (for 43p bargain!!) so I may need to investigate this new chefy craze of scallops on a pea puree - hits recipe books again :)
  • I have so many cookery books I struggle to decide what to cook and end up doing old favourites like spag bol, chilli and shepherd's pie. I have decided to pick a different book every month and try and make something from it once a week. I have chosen a good food 101 Best-ever curries as my first book. On Monday I cooked a Red Thai chicken curry which was very simple but delicious.
  • Chicken tartiflette was delicious, really yummy and creamy. You probably don't need to use as much chicken but it was very tasty-would recommend!

Caramelised basa fillets were OK, good as a quick, cheap dinner (frozen fillets used)

What a great thread. I too am the queen of reading cookery books but tend to stick to one or two. Anyway yesterday cooked

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/parprika_glazed_ribs_01985

It was lovely, a bit spicy but we all enjoyed it and lots of coleslaw left over for the rest of the week.

Today will be chicken stuffed with soft herby cheese and wrapped in streaky bacon, but have a cabbage and butternut squash to use so need to think of something to do to accompany the chicken, any ideas?

I am trying really hard to only buy sustainable fish and had bought some coley fillets which have been in the freezer since we watched Hugh's big fish fight on tv :o. I made my first ever fish curry and although I was dreading tasting coley (after dh told me his grandad used to feed it to the cat ), it actually tasted really good.

Apparently another less popular fish to try is pollock - not sure I like the sound of that though :rotfl:

Julie67 - you could dice the butternut squash and roast it with a few spices and some olive oil.

We serve our scallops with a plain risotto. The balance of flavours is really nice.

  • Tonight I am cooking Rabbit for the first time . I have found a few recipes in my country fayre recipe book, just need to decide which one to use, but it will be some kind of casserole I think.

I have only eaten rabbit once (rabbit pie, cooked by my MIL) and I really liked it, so hopefully I can do it justice.
