    I did, I did!

Nearly needed another sit down last night, after going for a lunchtime walk, an evening jog and cutting down the amount of food I'm eating. I'm not very good at being sensible with my diet and it tends to be all or nothing (e.g. eating everything or dieting). This, coupled with the new exercise, left me feeling exhausted! So today I'm trying to be a little bit more sensible with the eating, as I need to try and find moderation with my health.

Have re-started my emergency fund, as my girlfriend put me to shame by managing to save £550 in two months :o It's currently standing at about £1.... Ah well, it's all mine :D

edinburgher, what a great date to be debt free, the start of Spring and starting afresh with savings sounds like bliss. Even if it is only £1!

It is thanks Swinstie - I feel very lucky. Well, better than lucky as I know I had a hand in it myself :) It'll be you before too long I'm sure.

Woohoo - I love Tiday! (It's a combination of Thursday and Friday in case you couldn't guess...) The working week is almost over and I get my nerd marathon of Family Guy and American Dad on FX tonight :)

My legs are killing me, but I'm secretly pleased that I've managed to fit in at least 20 minutes of exercise every day this week and am aiming for another couple of jogging sessions before the weekend is out. My weight has already gone down a little bit (a couple of lbs) and while I'm feeling hungry more often than not, this is giving me the confidence to stick with it more than I've previously managed. Also, proud to say that my new weight means that I'm no longer obese :D This was my first health goal and reaching it within a week shows me that a) I can exercise if I set my mind to it and b) I need a tougher challenge to work towards!

So, with this in mind, my next challenge is to get to 14 stone by the time I go to the doctors for my next blood pressure check. That gives me seven weeks to lose 7lbs and should hopefully be a perfectly reasonable target?

After much discussion, GF and I have decided that we're definitely going to Kefalonia for our summer holiday (end of August) and we will book it up at the end of March. The end of March will also be ace as we've got a longish Easter break planned (I'll be out of the office for 11 days) and will no doubt fill it with daytrips and playing House of the Dead on the Wii - die zombies, die!

Right - off to get some work done.

    Well done, Ed!

But may I point something out: don't go hungry! You need to be a bit careful with the combination of exercise and food as you are reducing food but also increasing your amount of exercise, which, in turn is increasing your metabolism, burning the smaller amount of food you are eating faster. May I recommend low Gi carbs to keep you going, and perhaps some snacks of fruit/veg sticks etc. inbetween for when you are peckish. We don't want you collapsing on us now, do we? ;)

Also, if you like running, why don't you enter a 5K race as this will be something to aim for..Ed likes a target if his DF journey is anything to go by! :D

P.S. Even at this early stage, this may count as my favourite post of 2010! :p

Good thinking there Pickle. At the moment I'm sticking to three meals a day (small breakfast and lunch and normal dinner), but I am allowing myself a packet of oatcakes (6-7 oatcakes) a day and a couple of bananas. I think oatcakes are meant to be a fairly healthy source of low GI energy, but they do contain some of the dreaded sat fats! While I'm not trying to starve myself, I do realise that some hunger will be necessary to lose weight. After all, I haven't been hungry in 4 years or so :o

And again, you've eerily managed to pick up on something that I'm aiming for! When I first mentioned getting fit, my little sister (a running fanatic) suggested that I take part in my local park run (a sociable running group that does 5km around a local park every Saturday), which I thought would challenge me to be more sociable and to exercise.
