  • Well what can I say about the bill except :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Had the phone call today to say they had done more blood tests and he was now within the normal range (although to the higher end), he won't keep his drip in so he must be better:rotfl: and he can come home.

DH collected him mid afternoon and he is fine except 2 shaved front legs - he has some rather expensive food to eat and he has to go back at the end of the week for more blood tests - not sure if we will be charged for the blood tests or if they come under the same treatment - on the receipt it says each blood test is £64:eek: and he had 2 over the weekend!!

The total bill was £364 :eek::eek: so the Animal pot is empty and DH has paid the extra from his account.

My accounts are looking rather depleted so only a small PAD of £1.08 today - every little helps!!!
  • Sorry to hear that you got a huge vets bill, but at least you had some money put aside and puddy cat is ok as well.x.

Glad the cat is home...sorry about the bill though.

Reminds me I must put some £ by or get insurance for my dog as keep putting it off and as you have shown these things can happen unexpectedly.

    Have a good day

  • Have made another small PAD of £1.09 today.

Not much going on in the Elephant household at the moment.

I have been craving lasagne which I can't have as I am gluten intolerant and I was worried that GF lasagne might not be very nice so was pondering what to have when I remembered Frugal Queen had layered a lasagne with leeks, I did a quick check online and someone mentioned courgette or aubergine so my auntie gave me a large courgette (not quite a marrow) so tonight I made a GF lasagne and it was amazing - you couldn't really tell there was no lasagne sheets in it. I have 3/4 of the dish left so that will do me for a couple of nights.

I think next year we ought to grow courgette.

This year we have grown runner beans (we forgot we didn't like them so it's a bit of a waste), French beans (amazing), peas (amazing), beetroot (waiting to be harvested), butternut squash (planted 7 plants in a small area not realising how far they spread - my veg patch is now like a jungle!! but I have hundreds of butternut squash to see me through the winter) and pumpkin (I planted 1 plant and I have 1 pumpkin - it is bigger than a football so crikey knows how big it will be by Halloween!!!)

We also have loads of tomato plants - I have been roasting loads with peppers, garlic and oil (when the oven is on anyway) and then blitzing it in the blender to make a tomato sauce to have with Bolognese or in lasagne and then putting it in jars ready for winter. Gosh I feel all Frugal!!!
  • Hello EE, I've found your diary so going to have a good long read!

Glad your cat is ok, shame about the bill:eek:

    Ellie xx
  • I can't wait to move and have a veg patch :) We 1) don't get enough sun here & 2) would have to use the only small patch of grass we have (and that the kids play on) to make one. Our cucumbers did well this year though and I have green tomatoes on my plant now (I put them out too late so I know I probably won't get any red ones now...never mind been a useful learning curve ;) )
I'd like to grow courgettes as I love them! And salad bits as well as things like raspberries, strawberries and get some fruit trees :) I can just imagine a lovely fruit orchard at the end of the garden with lots of raised beds with things growing in :)

Anyway back to reality...I do like to day dream...

Sorry to hear the vet bill was so much :( I can't remember if you said or not but do you not have insurance to cover it? When our pup was in for just one night and on a drip we had to pay nearly £200 (with yukky medicinal food in a tin that he refused point blank to eat, gRRR!). SO expensive isn't it :( ! Good thing is you had a fund though so most of it was covered.
