Well it is another beautiful day in Havant so I've been waddling about in the sunshine.
Had a peek into Wilko's to see if they have had any more fabric conditioner in and they have a whole end of aisle devoted to them now so I will be picking up 2 freebie bottles each day till they are gone or offer finishes. So I nabbed one today and OH will nab one in a mo, I think 2 a day is okay as they are something I will use over time. And it will leave plenty for everyone else, nothing worse than one person clearing out an offer especially when you know they will only be selling them at the local car boot for a profit on sunday. Tis just not fair!

But thanks so much about the basil tips. Want it for pasta sauce. (thinking cheap tomato soup and basil :)). What do I need soil wise and pot wise (only have room for a pot on my kitchen sill) for my kitchen south facing sill. Don't have a garden but this is the plan for my sills for the summer. I've also grown cabbage (and let it flower. It confused me) and tomatoes (they came crashing out the window mid pizza making cos I didn't have canes LOL) on the sills before now. I KNOW what's possible in my wee pad.

Next year pots in bins methinks...the year after who knows..

All you need to know about growing basil indoors on a windowsill

Basil like lots of light, and we still have shortest days at present, but I have started mine in early April before on my south facing kitchen window but it was a very mild winter a few years ago.
I use 6" pots, its enough for me, but remember to pick regularly to encourage more to grow;)

    :hello:Hello Frugalers!

Hope you are all having a good frugal day! Already there are some crocus coming into bud, spring is on its way! :j

I had a bit of a frustrating day yesterday! Searched high and low and could not find the instruction/recipe book for the panny bm so I went online and printed off the first granary load recipe I found, made that and now have 1 brick of a loaf!:o:( I may breadcrumb it and use it up that way!

Next I had a go at making some kiwi jelly in the jam maker - 30 mins later - kiwi toffee! luckily I had saved the fruit and added it in with some stewed eating apples and got 2 apple and kiwi crumbles out of them, so not a total loss! Any ideas for the small pot of kiwi caramel?

The mung beans are starting to sprout and hopefully will be ready in time for the stir fry at the end of the week. I have some hm veg and country mix soup to freeze down and then thinking of playing with the jam maker again as I have a couple of huge tins of apricot pulp to use.

Veg box turned up today (cabbage, carrots, pots, parsnips, leeks, apples, mandarins and bananas) and all has been cleaned up and put into some of the lakeland green bags, which are fab at keeping fruit and veg fresh for ages.

Managed to get 6 good cleaning cloths out of one of dh's old and over stretched t shirts - that must be a £1 saving on buying them new like I used to!:o

Off to make up some easy cheese biscuits as I am craving something savoury and have given up crisps for lent!

    Catz x

    Evening everyone.

Just a small update. I've spend nothing in March so far, which means that today is my 3rd NSD of the month. I'm pretty tired this evening but have lots of school work to do so I'm going to try and get that done in reasonable time and then have an early night.

This week seems to be going so slow! Does anyone else feel like that?

Have a good evening everyone x

Hi all - another NSD day as not been over the doorstep ! Been busyish, 1 load washing, lots of small jobs done that needed doing but never got round to & sorted load paperwork, mostly for shredding.
Been nice here today but cold - lovely to have all windows open again - cold I can live with if wrapped up, but can't stand the heat - went to Greece a couple of years ago - beautiful place but faaaaar tooooo hot for me :(

Erme - you want to rant hunny, go ahead - I agree with Fishcake - doesn't change anything, but you do feel better afterwards.

Fishcake - glad you are settling into your new home ok.

This is one for the chicken keepers - did any of you see the news about the 'Chicken Coup' ????

Apparently, a fox got into a chicken run - the hens & a rooster called 'Dude' knocked over a table which knocked the fox out, and they proceeded to peck it to death. Dude refused to accept that he & his egg-layers were goners and ended the day as c*ck of the walk :D Brilliant eh wot - well not for the fox.........

    Hello frugal friends :)

The past couple of days have turned out to be really sunny, then this afternoon was the same, so I haven't spent much time on here.

Today's frugal tasks included planting up the willow cuttings, trimming some conifers to make the quail some extra shelter, soup making, biscuit baking and general work-a-day stuff. I didn't see the article about the chickens but can easily believe the cockerel would make mincemeat of a downed fox. Sme of those crazy roosters would do the same to us if we were knocked out in their presence, cannibals that they are! :rotfl:I've seen mine running around the garden with a stunned bird that had hit one of the house windows and Captain Beaky soon puts the sheep or calves in their place if they push too far through the fence. :D

Managed to transfer another £200 to my ISA, so only £150 left to fill it this year. It's a bit annoying seeing the BoE base rate at 0.5% and inflation at 3.5% though! I think my ISA is only attracting 2.5% at the moment, not the best, so I may just forget about trying to fill it in 2010/11 and, instead, look for an alternative form of investment. I did think about micro-smallholding but can't seem to find the difference between that and how I live already. :rotfl:

Got a bid on my latest eB!d item, so I'm really pleased about that. :T

Off to search for a free delivery code for Mr T or Mr A now, got relatives coming to stay next week and they can bring my order with them. :) Time to stock up! :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
