Bigs hugs Sunny Girl - thinking of you x

Hi PP - I'm fine :) Hubby went back to work yesterday; I have been taking advantage of him being at home to watch the young 'uns for a bit so I could get stuck into a bit work!

This week we have been having/plan to have:

Fruity rice and bran muffins on playschool mornings; avocado or mushrooms on toast, plain old toast with jam or marmalade, or branflakes with dried fruit, seeds and nuts, depending on the rest of the day's meals (baby usually steeped oats.) 3yo and 7mo have tea, OH and I have supper. I have been making the lunches in advance so OH can take the same to work, along with his yoghurt and apple (as well as his narna and branflakes for breakie.) Snacks are fruit, carrots or pecan halves. Puds, if any, are usually fruit.

    Saturday
    L: Out
    T: Toast with banana smoothie.
S: Mixed bean chilli with salad and tortilla chips

    Sunday
L: Mushroom puff tarts with veg, potatoes and gravy.
T: Peanut butter on crackers, cake and banana smoothie
S: Crackers, olives, carrots and organic cheese for DH

Monday (mushroom overload, but had orginally planned on it being lentil tarts - all good anyway :D )
L: Mushroom puff tart with leftover potatoes and baked beans
    T: Toast with banana smoothie
    S: Stuffed mushroom with veggies

    Tuesday
L: Cold pasta with carrots, red onion, dried berries and/or raisins and olive oil
T: Mushrooms and greens in broth, rice cake, banana smoothie
S: Sweet potato, red onion, garlic, and pecan salad

    Wednesday
L: Cauliflower bake with garlic bread and salad
T: Crackers with peanut butter, raisins and banana smoothie
S: Dahl, with salad, lime pickle and mini poppadoms

    Thursday
L: Savoury nut scones with salad
T: Tomato soup, rice cake and banana smoothie
S: Sweet potato and red onion tagine with salad

    Friday
L: Pasta in tomato sauce with salad
T: Peanut butter sandwich, raisins and banana smoothie
S: Sesame and peanut stir fry with brown rice

See you all again in a couple of days
Love and compassion to all x

    hi all

how is the weather affecting your meal plans?

I wanted to get out to buy some fresh veg but can not get the car out as it's so deep in snow.

Sainsburys / tesco / co-op will only deliver to the end of the lane so there is not point in ordering unless i was desperate....as i would have to carry everything up a very steep hill with two children round my ankles..

so now i am glad i always have a well stocked pantry and freezer (even though my new years resolutions was to stop hoarding food).

I guess meal planning and buying in advance really is helping people through this weather ?

It hasn't thankfully! Because i planned meals using what I already had we are fine. I am pretty sure I could manage next week too. This is amazing progress for me ;)

We have run out of bananas though, so are using up all the apples etc. lurking in the fridge instead.

Me too, as i planned meals with what i already had. I have loads of things in the storecupboards, inherited this from my mum who always had bits and bobs and could make lovely meals from all the bits and bobs she has.

Sun - chickpea and potato curry, chicken jalfrezi
    Mon - Leftovers from Sunday
    Tues - pizza and salad
Weds - steak and chips and salad
Thurs - chicken and dumpling soup
    Fri - burgers with chips

This was my mealplan for the week and looking back on it i had good intentions, even stuck the mealplan on the fridge so i would remember it. Sunday i made so much food it actually lasted me till Wednesday night. So on Wednesday night i had the pizza but Thursday was changed to jacket potatoes with cheese, seasoned ham and salad. Today again was pizza. All in all i have not spent any extra money as even though Thursday and Friday changed i had all the things in the house. Going to still continue with the meal planning as it was a good basis and did make me get more organised on the weekend so that i did not have as much to do in the week. :D
