January , FebruaryHas anyone ever booked hotel rooms with Travel Republic? The prices for February 21 -28 seem to be much cheaper than I can get anywhere else, e.g. the Flamingo is coming in @ £147 per person which is better than I can get on the harrahs site even with Cyber Monday
Youll need to quote price per room (ideally in dollars as thats where the best deals usually are) for x nights to get any decent comparisons to be made eg
Ballys from $36
Promotion Details:
Name: Rock Bottom Cyber Monday Promo
Description: Double Rooms from $36/ night
The price in dollars is $498 for 7nts in the Flamingo commencing 21/02/2011 I am tempted to book it but I am a very indecisive person and always dither0 -
JuneI find that most of the promo's i see posted on here, i check on other Vegas sites too that show the full $ cost excluding the resort fee, and no matter which US site i look at, the British sites are nearly always cheaper, hence the above....
The only thing which is a pain is the Travelrepublics/lowcostholidays/alpharooms/sunshine sites dont appear to state there is a resort fee or get the figures wrong for additional costs!
I'd book with T Republic (i use them for lots of my breaks anyway), but as you can clearly see, they show up cheaper...0 -
JuneI'm looking for a xmas present for my dad who is vegas crazy. I want a book about the mob's role in vegas. Does anyone has any recommendations?

Have a look in the guide section of the Las Vegas Sun (lasvegassun.com) they have various potted histories (inc gangsters) about our favourite location and they may refer to books and articles?
from what I can see the book you refer to seems to be the best of them, it says that book was used as the basis of the movie Casino?0 -

Go all the way, take him to vegas and do the mob tour about $70 for 2 1/2hrs of stories and mob sites on a guided bus tour, sure he'd enjoy it. Staying at the Flamingo of course.0 -

I think so, the main gangster in the book is tony spilotro - joe pesci's character in the film, nicky santoro, was based on him.
As for the tour, might just do that!! we're gonna be in vegas in june for my wedding.Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - Mike Tyson0 -
October , NovemberHi,
Can anyone just give me a few pointers on hotels, I am going to Vegas for the first time in October next year to get married, we will have our nine year old son with us so we are looking for a hotel that will not only cater for us but for our son as well.
Budget wise is not really a problem but with that many places to stay we are looking for help, if anyone has been in this situation and has hotels in mind your feedback would be grateful.0 -

Your nine year old son would love Circus Circus, although, its not a very good hotel for location wise.0 -

only 2 strip hotels cater for families specifically . Circus Circus and Excalibur . staying off strip i think The Green Valley Ranch is considered Family friendly .
you won't be able to do any gambling with your son in tow , and he will only be allowed to walk through gambling areas with you .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I have rarely found UK sites to be cheaper than booking direct, although I agree that it can sometimes be the case.
I just checked out the Flamingo for 7 nights from 21st feb on travelrepublic and got a total price of £323.26.
Booking direct with friends and family rates https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-reservations/main/?packageCode=IFNF8&propcode=FLV&originalpage=/MakeReservation.do&r=http%3a%2f%2fwww.harrahs.com%2fvegasvacation%2f i got a total of $476, at todays rates that would cost about £309, of course the rates could change between then and now for the worse or better as you would only pay for the first night upfront.0
