lol oh well... How much money do you recommend taking for 7 days?

I was planing on taking $2000, dont drink but WILL be gambling :)

Impossible for someone else to say how much you would need...$2000 for 7 days will be a lot more than some, a lot less than others. :)

As you will be gambling though, I would strongly suggest breaking your budget down into a daily amount for gambling (and a daily amount for anything else) and stick to it...obviously you could have a great run of luck, or none at all...and if you aren't pretty disciplined (easy not to be!) you could find yourself running short.

Our first trip we had a budget for gambling...which we increased by 50% as a result of running through the lot in the first 2 of 3 days...after that we learned.

Various people have various systems for money management in Vegas...we just stick to a daily budget for everything (except shows and especially nice meals which go on a card) and we know when it's gone it's gone...there have been days that by noon we have lost/spent more than 50% of that day's money...this is never a good thing! So we tend to try to take it easier in the early hours if things are not going our way so we can have a bit of a play in the evenings.

Oh, and maybe it's a very simple concept - but be sure whatever amount you are designating for gambling you are prepared to come home without. :)

  • I've got a budget of £250 on gambling for my whole trip and don't intend on spending anything more... Plus I will only be playing poker tournys so will stick to only $25 entry fee's.

I suppose it all depends on how much you intend to spend on gambling....I allow £100 per day for food /drink for the 2 of us and then take about £300 extra for bits and bobs....any trips/shows and major shopping trips I put on my Nationwide Flex card....we don't gamble so can't comment on that I'm afraid

Thanks... I've also got a flex account but not sure how the withdrawals work abroad.. do we get charged 1% of the fee?? whats the exchange rate?

    Thanks

Just looking to get some restaurant.com vouchers and was wondering if any of you have eaten at the following establishments and what were they like
LAS VEGAS COUNTRY SALOON Freemont st
    HENNESSEY'S TAVERN Freemont St

OCEAN ONE BAR & GRILLE (LOCATED @ MIRACLE MILE SHOPS)Just for breakfast or lunch

I haven't ate in Hennesseys, but had a really good drunken night there - infact here's a very quick drunken video of my friend up with the band they had on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIWAAWgViC8&feature=related We had a good laugh there.

We ate at Ocean One when we were there last year. V friendly service (and they ID'd us; I've never been so happy!). Food wasn't bad either - quite large portions and I don't remember being disappointed. We had a voucher and there was no problem in accepting it.

Two weeks today and we'll be coming in to land at LA for our connection :-)

I'll be on Day 2 of my Vegas trip, i cannot wait, all im thinking about is warm weather and food!! Totally bunged with the cold but glad ive got it now, and not in the next week

    Hi there,

Sorry if it sounds like a daft question but you did mean 100 pounds per day in the above reply (i.e. not 100 dollars per day)?

We are also planning to visit Vegas soon (for 5 days) and are struggling to decide how much spending money to set aside. We won't be gambling but may enjoy the odd drink while we're there. Not staggeringly wasted obviously, maybe just a beer in the afternoon and a bottle of wine somewhere later at the most.

We were thinking along the lines of $100-$150 per day for the pair of us for food/drink. Are we way off the mark?

We were also considering paying to become Las Vegas Advisor online members. We don't (yet) have any particular shows or anything lined up that we could use LVA to get cheap tickets for, but some of the meal vouchers, 2 for 1 buffets etc. look interesting. Would it be worth it for these alone?

Oh, I hope your cold gets better.. I'm sure it will when your body starts to relax and chill out.
I'm just looking forward to the lovely warm sunshine and the good food too; I've been waiting all year for this trip! (2nd time to Vegas)

Many of us think it is worth it...but it's down to the individual. Have a look at the coupons, work out which ones you're sure you would use (as best you can), see what the savings will be for those alone (LVA's website has buffet prices) - then compare that savings to the cost of membership - if savings is more than the cost then it would be worth it and any others you might use will be a bonus...you can use one coupon and get the full value back (though it's the Palms 50% coupon which we have never actually used despite buying the membership for years). You are only there 5 days - if you have places you definately want to eat, that aren't included in the vouchers in the book, your chances to use the vouchers will go down - so it really depends...plus many of the vouchers are for off-strip buffets - fine if you have a car, some will be accessible by bus, but otherwise may be more hassle than they are worth.

$100-$150/day for 2 is easily do-able for food and a few drinks but maybe consider buying some alcohol duty free for your room...or search out the cheap drink offers various places...last time I bought 2 mixed drinks at a casino bar (at Excalibur) it was $18.

one of our cheap lunches I'd forgotten about is Subway at O'Shea's (think they may have one at Casino Royale too now?)...at least at one point they were doing certain foot long sandwich combos for $5...so we'd pick one we could both deal with, share a crisps and drink.

In general we don't do fast food we can get in the UK, but Subway has more than once served a purpose when we've skipped breakfast and don't want a big lunch.

Also In and out Burger which serves lovely burgers and animal fries, yum. Real americana to me.

We also love In and Out Burger though have never been to the one kinda close to the Strip...I think the secret menu is important to be familiar with though ( i know you are with the reference to animal style - my favorite way to have my burger :)) as otherwise the menu looks really small.
