Hi i'm going to Vegas for four days in September but stopping in San Francisco, we want to do the 9hrs+ drive through Yosemite National Park or in Death Valley but cant seem to find anywhere reasonable to stay over night half way between the two, there are five of us going
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
okay no point just driving through either IMO . Both require at least a full day with a night stopping in each . Yosemite could probably stand to be 2 day stop .
Yosemite is pretty much a full days drive from SF from our experiance . Death valley from Yosemite will be easier in September because the Tioga pass will be open .

only one reasonable priced hotel in DV . book in advance .

If you are leaving in 2 weeks then you are already leaving it too close for comfort if you want to order through CCE as they have a minimum 10 day delivery policy. Do you really want to be waiting for your currency the last couple of days before you leave without having the time to sort out any delivery issues? I would rather leave the gambling for vegas.
Thanks, tbh I'd forgotten about the 10 day thing. I've ordered today for delivery Tuesday 17th. That leaves the Wedensday, Thursday, Friday and even Saturday morning to sort out anything with the delivery.0 -

Is it best to book Human Nature/Divas Las Vegas through Goldstar or similar discount website....or wait until I check in at IP and see if the money off coupons they give you would work out cheaper or the Tix booths maybe???
Also do you know where I can get discounted tickets for Jersey Boys
Don't think anyone suggested this before, but I've just noticed they have tickets on Travelzoo for Divas Las Vegas at the moment for $40, including "a free cocktail in a diva-sized souvenir cup" (apparently worth an extra $15).

It's only for shows through September though, not sure when you're going.0 -

Aprilfor those with kids, this might be interesting - came across it looking up Aliante Station.
http://davisinlasvegas.blogspot.com/2008/08/aliante-nature-discovery-park.html
The Dino Dig sandbox and replicas of fossilized dinosaurs (including a giant triceratops skull that children run through) at the 20-acre Aliante Nature Discovery Park are perhaps the biggest hits among those six and under. The playground is fully fenced and features big-kid slides, a tot area, and water play with sprinklers.
Outside the fence, families can stroll around the man-made lake (complete with waterfalls) and visit the park's duck residents. Soccer fields and volleyball stadium attract older children. In warmer months, the park hosts outdoor movies and music festivals.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

There is also Stovepipe Wells in the middle of DV

Worked out cheaper for us than Furnace Creek and is much more atmospheric (patio rooms are the cheapest if you can get one).0 -

SeptemberHi
New over on this forum, Just booked for next year and haven't booked transfers, is it cheaper to get taxi or limo to the MGM Grand? Is there a check-in at the airport, having read about queues at hotel ? And do you think th $20 thing will work at MGM or would I just end up looking stupid? Thank you in advance for reading my waffle, answers are probably here already but I'm only upto page 10, I'm getting there quietly!! lolDecember 2011 Sesky Watch, strimmer, tv, hoover & steam cleaner. March 2012 Straw dogs blueray film.0 -
MayA taxi to the MGM will run about $12-15 + tip. A pre-booked limo is around $60 and not worth it for the short, 10 minute journey unless you hore it for the hour and get a strip tour. The cost for going direct to the hotel and having it for an hour is the same.
You can check in at the airport if you are arriving at T1, ie on a connecting flight. However the airport check in closed around 6pm.
The $20 trick doesn't seem to work too well at the MGM. Some people say the clerks are prohibited from accepting tips.0
