sorry Luci, was speed-reading... I just read the bit where you said "put in 89109 for the zip code and choose within 1 mile if you want the strip and surrounding area"... (which is what i used to do till i realised the exclusion of the 'southern' properties! :) )

T&T is in the Luxor :)

Standard Mexican food in there, but we had a decent meal... it's where La Salsa used to be before they revamped the place (top of the escalators) - the certificate price makes it more reasonable (as prices seem a bit steep for mexican food in my opinion)

I always use 89109 and 15 miles to begin with, then narrow it down in stages when I'm looking for certificates on Restaurant.com. That works for me. We had some nice meals in fairly distant places. (From the strip, that is)

You do not need a car to take advantage if the off strip offerings. I can understand it if you only have a mega short trip, but TBH, the RTC (click for link)is very good for transportation around the outer areas.

Would be interested to go to the Mandalay, but getting confused with the T&C. What does the following exactly mean, sorry I am a restaurant.com virgin.

Minimum 2 entrees. 18% Gratuity added prior to discount. Valid for Dinner ONLY. Valid with 2 Prix Fixe dinners, excluding $45 menus. Excludes gratuity and tax. Valid only in downstairs dining area.

Do I need to buy 2 25$ cerfiticates? What the heck is going on with the 18% gratuity thingy. It says valid with 2 Prixe Fixe, excluding the $45 menues. So I am wondering if the 45$ are the cheapest ones so that I need to buy at least staff that costs maybe 70 Dollars and more?

Sorry for all this dumb questions

That looks really yummie. So if I buy 2 x 25$ that would cost me with the the 40% voucher now 12$. So potentially, two persons could spend 50$ on the menu with this vouchers. Sounds pretty amazing or did I miss something, there must be a catch somewhere...

You don't need to buy 2 $25 certificates - you can only use one per restaurant per month anyway..restaurant.com isn't meant to make the meal free. The 18% gratuity is because tipping in the US is generally 15%-20%, and to keep waitresses and waiters getting stiffed by people tipping on the balance after the discount, some restaurants put an 18% tip on the total bill. It's only valid with 2 Prixe Fixe entrees over $45 each. Youl could probably check the menu and prices of the restaurant (either on restaurant.com or the restaurant's website)...but I would say it's reasonable to assume that you'll be buying 2 meals of at least $50 each at least in order to use the coupon.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

missed this - but hopefully it's clear now - you can't buy 2 vouchers and use them at the same restaurant the same time...that's the catch (though not sure it's a catch, really) - it's not meant to make the meal free...it's to encourage people to try their restaurant at a discount (presumably so the customer will love it and come back paying full price).

Yes I'm considering that one. It's the bit about interest still being charged even though it is paid in full that I don't quite understand.

I would like to pay it as soon as I used it, but as far as I can understand, you would still be charged interest up until statement date or the date payment is due.

Need to look further into it.

My understanding,(which may be wrong) is

    Halifax Clarity
for example if you withdraw 5 x £300 = £1500 while in the US and you pay it all off when you get the statement the cost will be just over 1% per month so around £15

    Nationwide (new charges)

Same withdrawals would cost 5 x £1 plus 5 x 2% (£6) unless there is a maximum, so would cost £35 in total

Anyone feel free to correct this if its wrong

Thanks for that. That was my understanding too.

Just trying to decide if it's worth applying for one for maybe £20-30 a year as I usually get half my cash from Crown before we leave.

We saw Mystere on the buy one get one for $25 offer last year. Worked out at £38 (there was 6 of us and I had to split the cost between us all so I remember). So $50 sounds like a good deal.

    It was a fantastic show!
