AprilShe's not a big gambling person but does love to swim. Was wondering which hotel on the strip has the best pool scene? C
Just to be sure - does she want a place that's good to swim, or does she want a good pool scene? They aren't necessarily the same. Most Vegas pools are very shallow...so if someone's interested in swimming laps, it's not necessarily going to be an option many places. Bally's has a deep end...not sure if anywhere else on the strip does.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AprilThe thing to watch with all of these airlines now is the extra bag charge. We were in the U.S. last week and the big news was Delta putting even more luggage charges on. ATM you get 1 bag free then $50 EACH WAY for additional bags. We won't be using them again that's for sure.
Afraid AA is the same...$50 each way...but found out on another thread here that gold and platinum members get that waived for them and anyone travelling on the same itinerary. Totally unexpected score for us...we figure we'll save the $200 we paid for me to do the platinum challenge easily enough...so any other benefits we get will be extra.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
October , NovemberGuys, what would you say is the nicest cheap hotel in good location for the strip?

MarchFor me having status with an airline isn't so much about miles for free tickets (although it's nice) but it's about the extras, waived bagged is one, preferred seating -I almost always get emergency row, check in at business or first class desks so no long lines and domestic upgrades now and again with AA but with Delta-almost every domestic flight (Delta also upgraded me to business as the JFK LHR was overbooked in September).
For me it's worth sticking to one airline for the benefits as the difference in price is usually or £20 or £30 when my airline of choice isn't the cheapest-obviously it's a personal choice but if you go to Vegas more than once a year (and don't travel BA who are stingy with status) it's well worth considering.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Can you define 'cheap'? The answer may result in completely different responses. And what's the basis for 'nicest'? The rooms? The pool? The casino? The amenities?
Really not trying to be pedantic...but it's a difficult question the way it was posed - and sounds like you're willing to stay off strip as you say 'good location for the Strip'. The place Luci stayed previously - The Carriage House, I think it was - is convenient to the strip, sounds pretty nice and good value with a lot more comforts than a standard hotel room, but not on the strip.
It's kind of an impossible question without a bit more guidance. What are you used to in terms of hotels? Mostly Vegas hotels will be nicer than similar level hotels in Europe...so even harder to say without guidelines.
Oh - and depending on offers available, a normally mid-priced place may be considered cheap - so opens up even more options.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberI wonder if the Harrahs reward codes would work for anyone as part of this 'offer period'... I had 10SALE for 10% off at Paris....0
-
I had 10SALE for 10% off at Caesars (which co-incidently was the casino i said i was 'interested in' on the previous page)
Sounds like a bog standard offer then
Hot Deals have now disappeared for the time i was looking to book tho!... hmmm0 -

For my money none of the rooms are that expensive for what you get , you can lose a lot of the vegas experience by staying off strip for the sake of saving £20 a night. Last year we booked a nice room at the MGM grand that four of stayed in for under £50 a night.... the costs roll up if you start gambling , drinking and buying show tickets... If you have a choice avoid weekends and you can make big savings...0 -

Oh, you also get 1/4 extra miles as well just for being gold. we now have enough for 2 free flights to the U.S. and virtually the pick of dates. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
