MarchReading through page 1 again today and trets is waiting for some feedback on the BA flight to Vegas, so if you've been on this flight, can you share your views please......
Trets - I've taken the flight from Heathrow and found the planes comfortable (seats more comfortable and less cramped than the Virgin flight) We did however bag the twin set in the very back row (pre-booked a couple of months ahead for £20pp I think). The plane has IFT in the seat back, although the screen doesn't tilt like on some planes, so if the person in front reclines, it can be difficult to see the screen. The food was rubbish. Really poor in terms of the hot food and the snacks to accompany it. Can't say much about the drinks etc as we got bumped as soon as the food service was cleared. lol
I'm sure others can add to this, as I knew a few people here have definately taken that flight....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
I've been to Vegas twice now with my friends - once flying indirect with US Airways via Philadelphia and the other direct with Virgin. The wait between the connecting US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Vegas was too long (six hours on the way out and five on the way back). When I flew direct, I wasn't that impressed with the Virgin seating configuration and the flight was cramped.
I want to take my husband for his 60th birthday but he has only been flying four years now and the longest flight he has done to date is 5 hours. He is undecided about whether he would like to go direct or indirect. He hates being cramped on a flight and his pet hate is people who have their seat back for the whole of the flight. I told him on a longhaul flight this is usually unavoidable!
I want to get a good flight deal (we are looking at going in November this year) but am prepared to upgrade on the way back as the return flight is usually overnight and I would want my husband to be comfortable.
Personally, I think indirect would be best as it gives him time to stretch his legs before the next flight but I don't want to be stuck in an airport for more than two hours waiting for the connecting flight.
Any advice would be most welcome. My nearest airports are LGW or LHR.

MayI took the flight from Heathrow with BA just over a month ago. The flight to Vegas was on the day before the 2nd set of strikes took place and on the day that the Volcano was playing havok with flights from London.
The plane itself was ok though my IFE was in black and white (loose connection somewhere I expect). Service I thought was ok. Food was rubbish, but the drinks came round relatively frequently. The seats were comfortable enough (and I'm quite a big guy). I had the seat in the 2nd row of economy where theres only 2 seats infront of you and my seat had nothing infront of me, so plenty of legroom.
On the way back we flew during the strikes. This plane was newer and in better condition. For this flight we had the 2 seats at the back of the plane by themselves. The people infront didn't recline their seats but there seemed to be plenty of legroom. Service was better on this flight, the food was better and drinks were as frequent as before. The toilets weren't right upon you either so you didn't have all the lovely smells making your flight more enjoyable! IFE had a colour screen this time too.
I haven't used the Virgin flights but I found BA quite good with this flight despite all the worries over the strikes.0 -
SeptemberOK drinks, I either have beer, Sicilian Kiss (Amaretto and Southern Comfort) or a dozen Black Russians. Tracy has the most amazing Pina Coladas in TI, otherwise it's water or diet coke.
BA flights. Do not bother flying with them if you want Premium Economy, they are not even in the same league as Virgin for that class. Same money but all you are getting is a slightly wider seat, and a little more legroom than YThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
MayThe BA LHR-LAS flight was OK. 31" seat pitch I think. We were in the 3rd row of economy. I slept for the whole of the flight apart from during meal service so I don't know how often they came round with drinks. Seat back IFE which I didn't use.
Food was OK on the outward bound flight, but inedible on the inward bound.0 -
SeptemberHi,
Off to Vegas in Sept flying Virgin, LHR-LAX in economy. Has anyone else flown this route recently? I've read a couple of online reviews and they have not been favourable to say the least! (flight VS023)

Hi there, I've been lurking for a month or so and have a question to ask! I have been looking to go to vegas next april for my partner's birthday, however I am confused regarding this deposit I have to pay to stay at the hotel. For instance I was looking on expedia at the Ballys hotel and it states:
Guests are required to provide photo identification and a valid credit card or cash deposit in the amount of $100 per day if paying via credit card, or $200 per stay if paying via cash (the $200 cash deposit will only activate in-room movies and phone). If the guest fails to provide the requested credit card or cash deposit, check-in will not be permitted.
So if I were to stay for 7 night I would have to pay $700 for a deposit?! to stay in the hotel....fair enough I'm paying to stay in the hotel but I have to pay a deposit just incase something happens? Can someone shed some light on this rubbish for me? Thanks so much!:xmastree:Christmasaholic and proud! :xmassmile0 -
MarchNot sure what rubbish you're talking about but yes all hotels charge this security deposit-it's more against room chargebacks and to avoid people skipping without paying as you pay when you check out.
It isn't just a Vegas thing but common in many destinations.
If you use a credit card rather than a debit card the authorization is taken but the money not actually removed-so the charge is just on hold.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Aprilwalgreens (is this a supermarket?)
It's like a Boots + a corner shop, sort of...it's not a supermarket as such, but they have a lot of snackery* sort of stuff...plus any sort of medicinal sort of things you need and all that.
*Picked up from our short time with Luci.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
