Thanks for the responses.
The OH and me always like to do our research and make the most out of somewhere and there seemed like plenty to keep us occupied other than gambling.
Was told "too much tits and !!!" and the shops were too expensive, this was after she recommended new york where surely the stuff would have been the same price? lol
Shops expensive........oh no missus!!! Make sure you do the two outlet malls in Vegas, and the one in Primm if possible.....we have stocked up at Hollister, Nike, Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, Samsonite etc etc etc at possibly a quarter of UK prices. Agreed if you go shopping at the Wynn or Canale Shoppes its going to be expensive.
Also regular shops, Mrs Frog bought a ballgown in the FSM at Jessica McClintock, at a full price cost (using a 15% coupon from the booklet....make sure you always pick up the mall booklets) well below what it would have been in the UK.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

I started at page 1 and 2, then jumped to these last few posts
( I will trawl back through some of the more recent pages when I have more time )
I was in Vegas about 8 years ago, so have an idea of some of the things we'll want to do, but need to check out hotels first. Because this link to 'Bills' seemed cheap (and I'm not familiar with the hotel) I thought I'd have a look, but using the link and the code isn't working for me.
Just though I'd mention this in case I'm doing something wrong, or in case I should know to do something else before viewing the deal ???
Thanks to everyone for all the helpfull comments and tips on this forum....I look forward to looking through them all later.:T
Click on Lucis original link.......I pasted it and its not the full URL.
Bills isnt Venetian........but its OK.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
That's a fair point but I think once people get used to visiting ONE place for all deals it would be a lot easier. If I wanted to start looking for a deal now for a hotel in October, I wouldn't really know where to start on this thread - actually, it would be Page 1 !
Bit of a rough one but here's the idea in practice:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0ApLjfRPZCEK1dG14a3VJT2UxS1M5VF9UQ1hERVBWN0E&hl=en&output=html
i think thats a good idea - you'd need a 'date added' column as well though
as froggitt says, it is just a nightmare keeping it up to date as it would rely on one person doing it - however it would allow 'the updater' just to repost the link in a new post each time it's been updated - people can then refer to the 'date added' column to see the new stuff
i think if there was a way of getting a few people as deal 'administrators' (with access to edit the document) then you'd be on to a winner as we wouldn't have to rely on Luci, and people who rob deals from other sites (like me... only ever had about 4 emails!) can also put them on there0 -
Looks good - would anyone update it or is that one persons job?
I've just had a play around with the Google spreadsheet and I can add any Gmail / Googlemail email address to the list of 'editors'. That way, there would be a handful of people (who normally post deals on here) that can edit the spreadsheet as and when they need to.
Let's see what Luci thinks first as she seems to post the majority of deals on here so I don't want to interfere.0 -

You can add any Gmail / Googlemail address to the list of 'editors' so multiple people can amend it. I've put a date added column now too.0 -

Just wanted to says thanks for recommending Human Nature, I saw it on Tuesday and loved it.Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.0 -
Aprilione thing about a combined list of deals ala Fat Wallet is that sometimes they have limited availability for each date the deals available - it may be that a lot of deals are like that, I don't really know. So if you see a link posted and think 'ooooh, I'll have a look' you'll get there quicker than if you go to a compiled list at some point when you think of it. If you're actively looking for deals sure you might go to the list daily, but otherwise it would likely be an occasional thing and some might miss out on something they would have benefitted from. I remember penny posted a deal for Venetian some time ago and I checked it as soon as I saw it and they had availability on the deal for our dates...I didn't book it and went back a few days later and it was no longer available for our dates. I'm still gutted about that one - that I didn't book it as soon as it came out/was posted as I have never seen such a good deal (for us, with $50 slot play) since.
Maybe I'm just lazy, but I kind of like seeing them as they come up as it's a good trigger to check those that are intriguing out...otherwise I would only check as and when it occurred to me and I might miss out on some that would have been a good deal for us.
I also think that (like FatWallet) it ends up being down to the maintenance of the list and while some may be willing to do it, it kind of seems like a lot of work whereas posting a deal when it's seen is a one-of thing for those who have been good enough to do it.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberI like the deals how Luci posts them now (thanks Luci) but the spreadsheet does look good, although I do agree with Froggitt about it being out of site out of mind. Can anyone update it or not am a bit confused about that bit (it doesnt take much
) if everyone can ignore this last bit... but if not doesnt that defeat the object as someone who doesnt post deals often still could find a good deal but might be put off bringing it up for someone to add on their behalf? I dont post them very often (they usually go wrong!) but when I have I would like to think they might have been some use to someone

I was fortunate enough to go to NY and Vegas last year. I thought NY was more expensive, but you also need to remember to add the local sales tax on.
For example, Abercrombie & Fitch t-shirts in NY (on 5th Avenue) were $36 + tax and the same ones in Vegas (in the A&F store in the Fashion Show Mall) were $30 + tax (I think - this is from memory). Can't work out what that was altogether with the sales taxes for the states, but the price tags said 'cheaper in Vegas' to me!0 -
October , NovemberJust wondering how long most of you go for to Vegas?
I originally thought 12 nights but someone I know (who incidentally hated it) said this would be far too long and keeps trying to put me off all together!
We are the exception, but we're on the last few days of a SIX week trip. We still don't want to leave. We have never been for less than two weeks and are staying for eight in Oct/Nov. Reading a few trip reports will give you an idea of things you might like to do, so you can see how others fill their time. We don't gamble very much at all, but do enjoy people watching. We also hike in the state parks and visit museums and historical places. (there are quite a lot of these if you look.)
There is a chance you won't like it either, but as you can see from this thread, there are a lot of Vegas fans. :j:j:T:T
We also use the CAT bus system to ride around the city and see places away from the strip.0
