Many years ago (late 80's) My parents brought back from LV sets of cancelled (by cutting a small hole in the cards) playing cards that were given out for free. They were nice to have and I still fondly remember playing with the Ceasars packs. Does anyone know if this still happens?
Theres a shop in Miracle Mile and another in the Outlet Mall south of MB that sell ex-casino cards for a couple of bucks or so a pack. They dont cut holes in them......presumably after a day or so of poker, they replace them with new packs and get rid of the old ones.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Yes a lot of the tourist shops sell used casino packs of cards, I bought back about a dozen with me last week from Bellagio, Mirage, Caesars... $2 a pack.
The "worlds largest gift shop" on the strip just before you reach stratosphere has LOADS to choose from of these... also quite cool to walk to as on the other side of the road are a few of the older tacky wedding chapels, worth a photo or twoThe Head Honcho (does very little work)0 -

You can find enough to do in 4 days in LA so dont worry (better if you have a car) BUT would much rater have 8 days in Vegas
I see someone has given you some suggestions can I add Santa Anita races it is a great day out you can get a private box for about $10 each in the 25000 seat grandstand0 -

I thought they had to mark them somehow, either by a hole in them or cutting the corner off, otherwise anyone could use them in a casino.0 -
MayI am taking my wife & two kids (13) & (10) to LV in December (wifes 40th), looking at staying in one room. I am either looking at MGM or New York New York. Anyone got any comments on what would be the better for us or alternatives and what prices I should be paying for, for a 5 night stay.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I haven't stayed at NYNY, but from what I have read the rooms are quite small.
The MGM Grand Tower rooms are a decent size and you can request 2 queen beds. Although they are never guaranteed, you should be able to get them, especially in December.
Are you intending booking direct with the hotel? If you hold off you should get the room really cheap as December is the slowest time in Vegas although I think there is something on at the beginning of the month, but I can't remember what. Rodeo possibly?0 -

Yes they are usually marked in some way, either by cutting the corner off or marking them with a black marker.
You can usually get the cards at the hotels' own gift shops if you didn't want to traipse to Bonanza.0 -
October , NovemberI love Vegas as much as everyone else, but it’s nice to mix things up a little. There are technically no real sights in Vegas other than the strip and downtown. Yes there’s the Grand Canyon, which is a 5-hour drive to the south rim. Closer to Vegas is Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston, but you wont find much else in the way of natural sights.
I disagree.
What about Valley of Fire, Springs Preserve, Spring Mountain Ranch and Lake Harriet, The old Mormon Fort, and several other museums. We go hiking several times each trip, and rarely travel far from Las Vegas itself. We hiked Anniversary mine and a Lava Tube last November.0 -

Personally I wouldn't take kids in December as it is very unlikely to be warm enough for pool weather and for kids there's honestly not a lot outside of a few coasters, lions and dolphins to keep them happy. It can be really cold.
Sorry-It's just my opinion (based on taking a child the same age as your eldest) but I'm sure someone will come along with a load of ideas to make it appealing-that's the beauty of this forum -lots of opinionsI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
