That is probably around the price I'm looking at per day - even less if possible! Are they actually any good though? I did read that there are some steak houses that offer cheap specials etc. Is there a conclusive list of value eateries online anywhere?

Buffets at the lower grade hotels are your best bet to fill up on the cheap.

Ellis Island, behind Bally's, do a $6.95 steak special that includes a beer.

There is a Denny's at Casino Royale and one opposite Monte Carlo.

You can get $1 Michelob's at Casino Royale and $1 Margarita's. Also $1 Margarita's and cheap beer at Bill's Gambling Hall.

If you want to eat cheap and don't want to do fancy restaurants then I'd go for the food halls
One in Fashion show mall, one underneath MacDonalds next to Casino Royale, One upstairs from Gameworks and then there is the farmers market in MGM.
All these venues have various cheap eateries such as Miss Millies,Subway,Panda Express,a pizza outlet and a maxican and Panda express(chinese)...some are better than others having more choice but all are cheap and cheerfull....we usually opt for this option when we are not particularly hungry or when we don't have a lot of time....say before a show....there are also various eateries in the Forum shoppes and the PH miracle mile

I've checked all the MGM deals since I booked the 222 Offer and they have all been more expensive for our dates. We are $389 total and the last one I checked was $719.

Same here, we had 5 days on the 222 deal and 7 on the crazy 8's and both were considerably more expensive than when we booked a couple of months ago. I cancelled the 5 day 222 deal at MGM on wednesday and rebooked that travelzoo mandalay bay deal which offered $50 a day in resort credits.

I used Alpharooms for a hotel in Benalmadena at New Year with no problems. However I have since read some shocking posts of people not getting confirmation more than a week after posting and many people not being able to get then to answer the phone, or if they did, the customer service was less than stellar. There are several posts in the Complaints section of Holiday Truths.

I would certainly think twice about using them again.

Have you tried Travel Republic, City and Show, Booking.com and the other one that has been mentioned in here recently whose name escapes me?
Those are the stories I've heard too!
I've looked at booking.com. They don't have such good deals. I'll have a look at the others. There is "Atlas Choice" that have similar prices to alpha rooms.... decisions... decisions...

Just done another search on hotelscomparison. Encore is coming out at $409 with Octopus travel. Are they reputable?

just noticed this in the T&C's of the Mandalay Bay:
Reservations made after May 1, 2010 are subject to a resort fee of $15 plus 12% hotel tax per night.

For the last 4 days of our stay (Oct 9th-13th) all the MGM offers including the 222 come out at $388....
Mirage 25% deal is marginally cheaper at $377

We have used Alpharooms several times without issue - you only pay 20% deposit initially and balance later. Perhaps that's why some people didn't get their confirmation (voucher ?) straight away ?

Also used Octopus a couple of times without issue - you used to be able to save 20% with Nectar points but I think it's finished.

Wasn't Benalmadena Palace was it ? Went there a couple of weeks back through Alpharooms, £63 each for 5 nights S/C, great value and nice hotel.

I'd add the Orleans buffet to the list too- although off strip -the free shuttle from Bill's makes it as easy to get to as some far Strip places and better value. I like their casino too.

Don't forget to add the cost of tipping too though

I've also used Alpharooms several times without problem.....as you say Tingtong....you don't get the voucher until you pay in full.......most of the times we've used them it's been less than 8 weeks before departure so we've had to pay in full anyway....voucher was always sent within minutes of payment
