Marchgoing to vegas next week-staying at the stratosphere-my friends booked it because it was cheap and we thought there would be inflated prices if we left it too late because at the time a huge boxing fight was scheduled.... if i see a decent enough deal somewhere closer/on the strip i might count my losses and go for it...anyawy...
my question is anyone know of anywhere decent to watch the 6 nations, bearing in mind it will be 6am!!!!
any tips appreciated

AprilBased on what I've read here and elsewhere I'm thinking only Bally's, maybe the Flamingo if we could get a GO room, maybe NYNY (but location wouldn't be any better, and they charge a resort fee) but I'm open to suggestions & would be interested to know what other people think.
We love Bally's - but it's not for everyone. It's a bit more sedate and I suppose boring than a lot of other places - no theme, not a lot in the way of bars/lounges (it has some, but they aren't like the focus of the place and they cater to a bit older crowd)...but the rooms are really big compared to a lot of other places and the location is great - we've stayed there pretty much exclusively for about 5 years (other than a one-off night here and there on a great deal) and are comfortable there - it really depends on what's most important to you and what you're looking for. I kind of hate recommending it because I can see why some people wouldn't like the place even though we do.
We're trying something new (jumping ship all the way to Paris) for the bulk of our trip next month as feel a bit like we've done the Bally's thing too much. It will be interesting to see if we end up back at Bally's next time or not.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Sarah!
Thank you so much for sharing these - you look beautiful. The photos are excellent - is like a story from start to finish! Well done with all your planning. Your wedding day looked flawless.
You had LOTS of family over didnt you? We have my brother coming to walk me down the aisle and one of my best friends to be my unofficial bridesmaid. Then a few friends who are over in Vegas for the World Series of Poker - but we are having the ceremony broadcast live for my Mum, Dad etc & the grooms family to watch in the UK and Ireland.
Thanks to everyone on here for their best wishes - I am officially a very giddy kipper and cannot wait to join the " I got married in Vegas" gang lol.

Wynn and Venetian are equivalent to MGM distance wise from mid strip, which I would define as Bellagio. NYNY is across a bridge to MGM so thats the same. PH is a five to ten minute walk from MGM West Wing exit.
Luxor is further south than MGM so forget that.
I agree with your ruled out list, although I would add IP to it - not in same league as MGM.
You wont get as good a room at Caesars for the MGM money. Paris is OK. Im not as familiar with the Ballys/Harrahs/Flamingo properties.
Noone here seems to stay at Monty Carlo.
seconded whats said above,
for the money you really cant beat mgm...very few places are that nice with that price tag0 -
MayNothing wrong with the MGM, especially at that price, and the location isn't that bad.
Agree with what has been said, some of those are in a worse location or worse hotels.
PH would be good if you got it at a decent rate. We liked Bally's, but I wouldn't suggest it for a first timer as it is a bit boring as ferf said.
I never fancied the MGM as I felt it was too far south and avoided it for the first few visits. However we are staying there for the 3rd time in May.
It has a monorail station and the Deuce stops right outside so you can easily get to north strip. Centre strip is easily walkable in about 15 mins.0 -
Agree with trets comment. IMHO theres five places to stay.
1 Too far north ie Strat, Circus, Fountainbleu when it opens
2 Too far south ie Mandalay, Luxor
3 Mid strip ie Bellagio, Paris, Caesars
4 south strip ie MGM, NYNY
5 north strip ie Venetian, Wynn, TI
Unless youve got a good reason, dont do 1 or 2.
3 4 and 5 are all fine - from 3 you can just walk to both 4 and 5, but dont try walking from 4 to 5 or vice versa, youll waste too much time.
Similarly getting the car from the lot every time and parking in a lot will waste a lot of time unless you valet park, which I would recommend. Also driving up and down the strip is romantic but another waste of time - use Koval and Industrial as theres very little traffic there, and generally youre nearer to the lot entrance than using the strip.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

The Crown and Anchor should show the Rugby
http://crownandanchorlv.blogspot.com/
other than that i would expect the larger Casino sportsbooks ( traditional bookies to you and me) should show them . Mandalay Bay and Caesars have huge ( and i do mean HUGE ) screens .
For Poker check out the links in post 3 . i assume you have all played live poker before , not just online .
i like Harrahs Poker room for Tournaments .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
MayThe Crown and Anchor charges an entry fee of around $20pp. I believe that McMullan's doesn't.
We have seen Champions League at both the MGM and Paris sportsbooks. They may put on the 6 Nations of you ask them.0 -

Dont string your chips, and announce single large chip raises. And dont call your mates over to have a look when you get pocket aces.
TI is in my opinion the best live beginners room.....PH and Luxor also both OK for live newbies......Caesars and MGM just bend over and bite on something.......illegitimi non carborundum0
