MarchErmmmm, not sure if you mean me Mookybargirl, I have been to Maggiano's and loved it, I even went to Maggiano's in Philly as well as I liked it so much, however I was single when I went to Vegas last (almost a year ago now) and i'm still single now. Still here's hoping you've been seeing into the future:rotfl:
I still hang around here wandering through the thread but at this moment I have no plans to go back to Vegas though I'd love to, I'll keep living vicariously through you guys so keep the trip reports coming.
The other stew - can't remember the exact ID name - lives/lived in Paris, went to Cheltenham for the races. I might have a PM from him......
EDIT - ID is sew109. Think he also built a website around Vegas and was posted quite a bit on the board last year. He also pops posts up on Trip Advisor on the Nevada forum.... drop him a PM steff.... :-)Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
SeptemberThink this is his website had it saved in my faves from ages ago...

October , NovemberI'm just looking for a bit of advice/opinion from the Vegas veterans on here if you don't mind...
We currently have a room booked at the MGM in October for $55 a night (standard grand tower room), and are happy with the price but not totally in love with the location - ideally we'd prefer to be more central given that this will be our first visit. I'm planning to keep an eye on the offers available over the coming months, but just wondered which hotels people would consider to be a better alternative than the MGM taking into account the location, room quality etc, and which would probably be of a similar price.
We definately want to be on the Strip and have already ruled out the Stratosphere, Circus Circus, the Sahara and probably the Excalibur so I guess our options would be Bally's, Harrah's, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Luxor, New York New York, Monte Carlo - any others? Maybe Planet Hollywood? Which of these would you switch to if you found a similar or cheaper price to the MGM? Based on what I've read here and elsewhere I'm thinking only Bally's, maybe the Flamingo if we could get a GO room, maybe NYNY (but location wouldn't be any better, and they charge a resort fee) but I'm open to suggestions & would be interested to know what other people think.
I will of course keep everything crossed that one of the fancier hotels which are currently out of our budget (Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio etc) has a fantabulous offer on between now and October, but won't hold my breath0 -

I seem to remember some discussion of this earlier in the thread so hopefully someone will find the offer useful.0 -

Wynn and Venetian are equivalent to MGM distance wise from mid strip, which I would define as Bellagio. NYNY is across a bridge to MGM so thats the same. PH is a five to ten minute walk from MGM West Wing exit.
Luxor is further south than MGM so forget that.
I agree with your ruled out list, although I would add IP to it - not in same league as MGM.
You wont get as good a room at Caesars for the MGM money. Paris is OK. Im not as familiar with the Ballys/Harrahs/Flamingo properties.
Noone here seems to stay at Monty Carlo.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

I agree about the location BUT for that price it is hard to turn down.
.Out of your choices only these will be as cheap or cheaper, Bally's, Harrah's, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Luxor, Out of those the IP and Harrahs are much cheaper for a reason, You should rule out Luxor as the location is even worse. Which leaves Flamingo and Ballys, Flamingo would be my choice as an alternative, you can prob book a deluxe room there for about $40 to $45 and then hope to blag a GO room for an extra $25 at check in. You wont be able to book a GO room for less than $55 a night altho I think I saw a promotion for GO rooms for around $69 a night recently. For Ballys Ferf is your girl.
If a pool is important then your choices are down to MGM and Flamingo from that list, Depending how late in Oct you are going as pools will be shutting down for the winter
Edit Luci posted this deal a few pages back Go room at Flamingo some nights are $65 in OCT that is a bargain

TBH i think you have a great deal booked at the MGM grand . some people get fixated on being "mid-strip". The Crossroads of MGM Grand , NY NY , Tropicanna , and Excalibur is hardly "away from the Action" .we have stayed south strip a few times and loved it .
if you find a good deal for PH , Mirage TI , Paris or Caesars (not Classic room unless you want to chance your arm on upgrade for $20 like we did) then you are in MGM Grand type class . but $55 for the MGM a night i remember when you were lucky to see it for under $100 a nightBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I was just coming to see if this had been posted yet. We were thinking about going again as they have a new mystery on from the last time we did it and we really enjoyed the first one. For $20, it's a no-brainer for us - definately going to go for the groupon and get booked.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
