What's the cheapest way to make calls home from Vegas?

I've got a quad band mobile can I get a roaming sim card or similar?

Monorail Fares Up: The bankrupt Las Vegas Monorail has raised its fares once more, increasing the cost of the unlimited-ride one-day pass to $14 (from $13) and adding $2 to the cost of the three-day pass, which is now $30. The single-ride fare remains the same, at $5.

Trets - maybe this is something to add to the guide as it gets asked quite a lot and isn't the easiest thing to search the thread for?

On the rare occasion we need to call home we just get an inexpensive calling card from 7-11 or CVS or a gas station (never the machines in the hotels as the rates are terrible) and use the phone in the room...but we would never call for more than 20 mins (the cut off before the hotel phone starts charging by the minute on top of the $1.25 connection fee). My MIL bought a $5 or $10 card and made several calls home and had loads of credit left at the end of the week.

Others have found other options that work better for them.

The 108 Paradise no longer goes to the Premium Outlets so it looks like we will have to use the Ace.

Not sure what the fare is yet as it only lists for the Deuce, but it may be the same.

According to the Ace FAQ it is the same

agreed . if everyone could please post their fav method so i don't have trawl through the thread .

i know some people buy a cheap mobile at walgreens or walmart . cannot remember which ones ??

Maybe you could note that I have the phones that can be passed on to another couple. As I don't plan to go to Vegas for quite a while I don't really need to check the thread but would like to pass the phones on. You could put a note that anyone needing them should PM me.

Phone home......ipod Touch with skype, earphones with a mic on them, and the free wifi at The Signature (or any of the other hotspots on the Froggitt's Vegas map).

I just love people who want the info but can't be bothered looking in the thread for it but instead expect others to do it for them. Really motivates those of us who do take the time and trouble to post info and advice.

Well sorry if you can't be bothered looking-I can't be bothered either. If you do the leg work most people will help out but if you sit on your backside and do nothing-you'll be sitting a long time.

Nope - It doesnt look like you are missing anything!!

I have finally got round to looking into this a bit more deeply and its rubbish. As pennylane said earlier, One Roam used to have a seperate sim card called Jolt! that had amazing deals for USA to USA calls and USA to UK calls - THIS is what I found really good. The One Roam side of it seems rubbish for everything (IMO).

I think we are going back to using the following:-

specifically the "Tuyo" ones as that suits our needs best at the mo!

Its one of the most boring things to research when going to Vegas BUT will save you a fortune if you make the correct choice!
