ok a couple of questions and I know both have been answered before in last years thread but can't be assed to trudge through and look

Cheapest insurance....1 trip to usa for people with pre-existing contitions

bestest most comfiest shoes to give me time to wear them in....I took crocs last time and even they hurt by the end of the holiday

I use MIA On-line https://www.fastweb.co.uk/miaonline/ . They used to have set prices but seem to have changed that now - mine was £180ish (I think) for annual worldwide for 2 people. They also do single trips. I've not had to claim but all the feedback I've read has been quite good.

There was a lot of good will toward FlyFlots previously...I wouldn't know as I ruined mine before I got to Vegas. :( Though they were really comfortable when I wore them on our visit home before we headed to Vegas.

I got these which I thought were pretty good value...and 7% quidco.

To be honest, I think that most shoes if worn the whole trip will give most people trouble. I usually try to bring at least 2 pairs and rotate them...though ultimately I end up wearing my trainers most of the time as they always seem to work out the most comfortable for the amount of walking.

And yes, I realise that bringing only 2 pairs of shoes to Vegas makes me a bit odd...but I'm not a big shoe-oriented girl...mostly due to my big feet and lack of options. :)

Is that wise? have you any idea what it would cost you (heavn forbid) if anything went wrong while you were out there.

I dont know the answer but I am guessing 10s to 100s of thousands for heart surgery
One of my mates went to Vegas last year on our recommendation. He got so drunk that he passed out in Bellagio. They took him to hospital and gave him every test they could possibly justify (all he needed was some strong coffee) the bill came to more than $4,000 and his insurance refused to cover him because it was self induced. He had to take out a loan to pay it off.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Just tried that one NVH...£402 for Alan's bypass surgery....forget it I'm not paying that...though I will say that's the lowest quote we've had so far....We'll risk it and go without cover for pre-existing conditions

that price was on top of the policy charge of £120 for the 2 of us single trip

You are mad not taking insurance for a trip to the States.....could find yourself liable for medical bills that could run into tens if not hundreds of thousands....

I usually book through the Post Office for us, it's only hypertension for my OH, but some standard policies don't cover it. We usually take the annual cover with the Post Office too, as it's only about £20 more and we usually get a couple of trips out of it anyway and we get some quidco cashback. We're paying just over £100 for the 2 of us for the year....

Edited to say that we've also claimed against them a few years ago when OH ended up in hospital, and everything went so so smoothly, would recommend....

I stayed in MGM but can't afford it this time round as going to Vegas twice in a year is good lol

    Looking at Excalibur

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yes the Tacky Palace will be less than MGM, but when MGM is maybe $55 or so a night, compared to $40 or so for The Palace, its worth it. Saving of £50 or so for the week.........

My weeknights are $22 for Excalibur in May. The offer has expired now, but I can't see me finding anything much cheaper. We were quite pleasantly surprised with Excalibur last year. The pool area was much nicer than we expected.

I got a blister wearing Fly Flots in Vegas, the only time I've had a blister. They were so comfy at home too.

Lorraine, try Direct Travel for insurance. You are just going to have to call every company you can think of. Remember there is a list of companies on HT.

Agree the pool area at the Excalibur is really nice, but I would pay the small difference to stay at the MGM unless I got a deal like pebbles.

we're probably in the minority, and having never stayed at MGM our choice may be irrelevant, but having stayed at Excalibur and having visited MGM many times, we would choose Excalibur over MGM, especially if MGM were more expensive. MGM is just too big for us to really want to base ourselves there - and we were always perfectly happy with Excalibur the several times we stayed there. Only once did we notice tons of kids there - though this obviously depends on when people are visiting.
