Boa - SO sorry to hear about your disaster! I really feel for you and your family. Absolute nightmare. I reallly hope you can salvage something out of this horrible situation.
Poor you - you have my heartfelt sympathies.
Hope you get a refund on those tickets.
    Steff :(

Thanks Steff. I called TI and they were very good and refunded the Mystere tickets no problem. So really just down on the Taxis to/from the airport and £68 on the car hire. I may get some back from the travel insurance, not sure if they will count car hire as 'travel costs' - and there is a £60 excess.

Oh, I also bought the US map for my TomTom in the sale, but can use this in the future I'm sure.

I am going to wait to get the flight refund back on the credit card then book with Virgin for August (school hols I know). I'll likely go through NHS discounts and get 2% discount.

I have $1560 dollars, so may just hang onto them - be interesting to see what they do in the meantime.

Still feeling pretty let-down, but off for a couple of days in Bristol (No. 1 Son applying there for Uni) so we'll do some sights and dining!

I'll get the family out their somehow!

Fares in August drop dramatically around the 21st-23rd August if you can squeeze it in right before school goes back.

Has anyone any ideas if there is something 'big' going on around the 2nd week of june?

we booked up weeks ago to go june 1-13th and now friends of ours are looking into going out as well but flights on virgin are over £1100 for an economy return around the dates we've booked

looks like the cheap fare buckets are all sold for 1st June LGW-LAS, its coming up as full economy Y fare, outward day before or day after is a lot less

and checking flight loads, only 4 Y seats left on 1st June

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
