For those not sure about whether people actually get reported to any of the official bodies here is a new thread on the ebay board:

    Hey

Managed to list 2 items this morning using buy it now :j so i now have 272 items listed still only one selling for a grand total of 99p which was a xmas present about 3 years ago that i have only just got round to listing!

I have been doing ebay for years now and it's all my own personal stuff.... all things that i sell have been in my house for years.... i have pics of all the clutter to prove it.... i'd be far too embarassed to show anyone those pics tho!!!

I did do one mystery shopping job and made £10 for it and i registered as self employed, i work full time and part time too and my tax bill for last year was £24  for that one mystery shopping job!!!! Needless to say i haven't done any mystery shopping jobs since then and my tax code for the coming year has now increased so for some reason the both jobs obviously haven't been taking enough tax off me so i would definately think twice about doing anything that would result in the tax man taking any more money from me!

Once all my debts are cleared and i have some more time on my hands i would love to start up my own business but at the moment its a long way off so i will keep to listing my own clutter before trying to buy any more to sell.... i have more than enough to keep me going!

    question:

so i have a personal account with over 1000 feedback at 100% so if i want to make a shop and turn into a business account I wouldnt want to start again from 0 feedback... is it best to switch my personal account to a business one? and start my own personal one again? can i have a shop and list things in the shop and do listings outside the shop on the same account?

I have now re-registered as Self Employed, I bought some stuff to sell on and do miss having my Business account.

Mrscmr - have you checked out the Discussion Forums, you can find lots of information about things there, try the Business Selling Board, it is recommended to have a different ID for using the Forums than selling on so that if you post anything that someone doesn't like they can't sabotage your listings.

Personally I would switch the current high feedback account to the business account and start a again with a new account for private sales.

Yes you can have a shop and straight forward auctions on the same account, in fact it pays to have some auctions running all the time as a way of pointing people to your shop.

    Hi mrscmr

The only thing about changing your Personal account to a Business account is you would have to do all your listings again on another account and as you have so many listings it would be a lot of work whereas now you just relist them.

When are you thinking of starting a Business? If you are going to wait a few months then maybe you could open another account now and start buying things with it and then maybe start doing your second hand stuff on the new account when you have over 5 feedback (I think it is 5 that you have to have before you can start selling), hopefully in that time you will have sold most of your stuff on your current ID and can switch it to the Business one.

    I hope that makes sense?

The ebay community boards are fun, but you'll need a very strong tin hat. Also like tmd said never ever post using your real ID, set up a new ebay account just for posting.

Yes, if you look in the top right hand corner of your Ebay screen it has headings and one is Community, click on that and go to Discussion Boards and they have a few different ones, it is definitely worth reading through them and seeing what sort of problems people are having etc and there are always people asking questions about things, I tend to look every now and then and see.
