I've emailed her and explained that I am honest and promised she won't be out of pocket and asked if she would just wait a bit longer. I had a buyer a couple of weeks ago who said she hadn't received her items, she went to her sorting office to pick up another parcel and asked if there were any other parcels and mine was there! Apparently the postman 'forgot' to leave a card. Just goes to show really. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks again soolin x

  • Please, please HELP. It's not a matter of life or death just a matter of EBAY!

Listed my first thing on ebay. (Promised to list five things but...)

First mistake did too long a listing, have waited all week and realise that it should have been shorter. NO bids when all around me are getting bids. It ends today in 4 hours and still 0 bids in a sea of all othes successfully being bid upon.

I am using my son's account, feed back of 2. Is that the problem. It is 'Dragons Age Origins PS3' if anyone cares to take a look and could tell me where we are going wrong please, please, please.

I reduced price in middle of week. Others start low but completed listings go for over £20 usually, half a dozen a day. Ours is listed at £15.00 with free p&P.

I am very puzzled and upset to see that big fat '0' bids!!

I think the feedback does affect price, even the two you have are not recent and that is often a sign of a hijacked account, although for such a low value item that shouldn't really be too much of an issue.

Others recently have gone for as little as £17 so you might get a bid in at last minute although Sunday lunch time isn't a particularly good time to list really, it might have done better this evening.

  • Hi Soolin,

Thanks for that. Should we be building up our feedback with smaller items until we have a better rating?

I saw during the week that they start low but usually go up over the £20 mark. There have been a few lower ones this weekend. It's a newish game and maybe the rush is over now.

When I look at others bid history it looks like some people are bidding against themselves with multiple bids which I don't understand. I wonder if people use other accounts to bid on their own items to push the price up??

I almost think if we had one bid it would it would break the jinx!
  • Whoo hoo, I've got a bid!
  • DeeDee - if its the one i think (on £15 with 2 feedback) Then i bet your glad it now has bids. I see the others that are finishing just a little after are on £16 but have a few bids - they may have started a little lower to get a few people interested and had a few bids on it... You might find that now in the last few hrs people might knock it up a little... Has it got a few watchers?? I find most things hoover around till the last few mins and then have a little bidding war at the end.....Hope it gets a few more bids on it for you

The bid history is anonymous so you just see user number and nothing else. As all users are anonymous it is almost impossible to tell if someone is shill bidding until after the auction ends and you can see the winning bidders ID.

  • Hi S & M,

I would like to get £17 because we know we can get £16 at the local Game shop as a trade in so we'll see.

What is good is as long as we don't make a loss (or even if it is a small one) it has spurred me on and I know now more about Ebay than I did last week. Hope to get the hand of it in order to clear out two rooms full of junk.

    Thanks for your help.
