tmd, my understanding is that the rules on returns are governed by the Distance Selling Regulations (DSRs) and apply to your BIN sales only (auctions are not subject to DSRs). A person can return goods within 7 days of the contract being concluded although you as a seller can choose to give a longer time.
And on your other issue, I would email them to ask for the proof of postage/receipt and if they have it to take up the issue with RM. If they haven't got it, then I would tell them that the item is at the PO and you cannot refund until the excess is paid by them. (Of course you could always refund and put it as a loss on your business account)
Busy listing here today and tomorrow. In hospital on Monday. Have no money in my bank account and the overdraft is now the same amount as some people's mortgages  Aiming to raise £1k from various things this month.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

I know there are certain 'rules' regarding returns but am not sure what to put (want to change mine after this latest thing), I have just put that I accept returns within 14 days (I think as a Business you have to give them 14 days but I've seen some big sellers saying 7 days still).
Will go and post on the forums in a minute and see what advice I get back.
Hi, on the DTI website there's a factsheet for direct sales on the internet. It would be worth checking that out as well as asking on ebay forum, as some business sellers say no return, which is something they can't do. It is of course biased completely in favour of the buyer. As if trying to run an honest business isn't difficult enough already.0 -

I had a look but they were offering next to nothing and they want perfect items so I decided on Amazon. Think some people use play.com as well.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

hermum - welcome - your post made me giggle!
I've had a couple more sales, £15 worth and I have a few bids on stuff I've listed. Braved the loft last night and found a few carriers of stuff I could sell. My boyfriend gave me a few ps3 games, expecting them to be £2-£3 each; I checked completed listings and they are going at £7, £8, 2x£10 and 1 not worth selling so that's good news0 -

I always use the Royal mail website, you weigh the item, put that in and the destination and they give you the price.
