  • morning all :)

    having had a day of utter sloth yesterday (well, apart from the 20 mins of shredding!) I am going to have a busier one today and tomorrow before going back to work on Friday.

    to do...

    * SOA - as the heating oil bill busted my !!! well and truly!

    * work out this month's money so i can pay my credit card bill when i get paid on Friday

    * shred

    * counselling session on my own with lovely counsellor

    * Julian service at nice vicar's church - not sure what this is about but it said quiet and reflective so sounds right up my alley

    * walk/stagger with dog

    * pop into town - need 2 x hand towels as mine are looking v shabby, plus 2 soapdishes as I have lovely new soap to use. also need to look for some fat jeans to see me through the next month :mad: and possibly some boots. also need some nice boxes for old photos/cards etc

    * go through my wardrobe to start assembling the dream capsule collection :j

    * order 2 x self help books from Amazon - something about Emotional Vampires and another one about Nice Girls saying No etc

    * update signature totals

    * tidy kitchen and clear out any gone off xmas food from the fridge - i have been really careful on this as i hate wasting food, so hopefully there won't be too much

    * get washing on

    * mop kitchen and conservatory floors as 4 muddy dogs have made their mark!

    * finish the edging in the spare room - painted it ages ago but need to finish it off nicely

    * tidy up paperwork

    * go through old cards and photos from married days - been putting this off for ages but am going to go into 2011 with all the old stuff in a box

    * plan an exciting work space so I feel more inspired to work better on my work from home days!

    gosh what a lot! all achievable though hopefully :rotfl:

  • Wow lh that's some plan!

    Not sure if you have a local library but I order all of the books I want to read from the library now - haven't bought any for ages now. Our local library allows you to do everything online too. I usually go onto Amazon - see what's in the top ten then order from the library what I like to read.

    I love the plan an exciting work place thing too - what a lovely idea to do. Once I've done some more decluttering I may be able to achieve that!

  • here's the TA DA list (thanks to cherisong for introducing me to those!)

    * cleaned kitchen (including all yukky crusty tins i had left!)
    * mopped floors
    * cleared out fridge
    * tidied up freezer - LOADS of meals in there, goody! :money:
    * had shower
    * walked dog x2
    * went to counselling
    * went to church service and chatted to vicar - this was FAB!
    * did shred on yesterday's acheing muscles :A
    * checked bank - this was baaad, heating oil will have to be added to another credit card :mad:
    * paid towards c/card bill (rest will follow on pay day)
    * ordered NHS pre payment certificate so i can claim refund for all the asthma meds i bought just before christmas

    tomorrow - i am off into town to meet a friend for lunch and look for boots and jeans (a small budget is available - these are utterly essential). towels and everything else will have to wait now due to the heating oil cost.

    mineallmine - yes i have a library, have never tried ordering from them before but this may be the year I give it a whirl. I like to buy books as I re-read them lots but it could be time to knock this on the head!

    Just read the whole thread little h and popping in to say hello! You have done so well this year and should be really proud! I took my wee flat on thinking my ex would stay and pay his way too but I didn't really like being with someone, he didn't like it here and he left and I had to get on with it. It's been tough financially but now, nearly 3 years on it's all good and I have a much better paying job.

    Re the ex......if what he gives is more than what he takes then fine. If it's not......you deserve SO much better X

  • crikey lh so much done today. I get those pre payment certificates too, they really do help. So you dont get free prescriptions if you have ashthma (spelling sorry) then?

    I really wish I'd listened to a friend who nagged me to use the local library. And now I cant shut up telling everyone to do the same. So many books I've borrowed I've then discovered well I'm glad I didn't buy that. There have been the odd ones I'd be tempted to buy (India Knight did a brill thrifty book).

    Also, now please tell me if I'm being nosey, but with your credit cards have you thought about swopsies at all? When we had bad debt we were never able to swop easily between current providers but I notice from your sig the Virgin one has a mix of 0% and other %. Could you swop some of that debt onto one of the other cards at 0%? Probably something you've already thought of considering how well you're doing.:A

  • do you know, mineallmine, you are absolutely right, thank you! :T

    I had left the £6500 I have on the Virgin card as the life of balance rate was 6.9% and this isn't a bad rate and it means I don't have to worry about moving it. But really, it means I am paying £35 a month in interest which I could avoid if I moved it somewhere else. I will do some investigating.

    I love this diary business, nothing like people making nice helpful suggestions to kick me up the !!!!!

    sadly the NHS would grind to a halt if asthma medication was free. annoying as my ex hubby is epileptic and his medication is free! i am lucky in that my asthma is generally very well controlled, so it's really a small price to pay for that. and even lower now i have the PPC!

    Souk08 - the ex business. that is such a great way to put it, thank you so much. at the moment i am not sure, and it has been rumbling on for a long time, to the extent where at the moment i am sick to the back teeth of it and want rid. i had thought i was ready to make the break, but now i'm not sure. i think this is because i still have in my head what i want him to be, not what he is. this of course isn't good for either of us, as he deserves to be with someone who really wants to be with him.

    so, today. been out with the dog, got woken up at an ungodly hour by a facebook nutter who had 'just knocked his phone' (I didn't answer it) and couldn't get back to sleep. i will be telling him where to go, already removed him from my friend list. i have to keep my phone on as my granny has just been taken into hospital :(

    i am going to do some shred later - promised myself a G and T last night if i shredded first, and i felt much less like it afterwards so only had one whereas i would normally have had 2 (holidays and all that). I think this will be a new motivation scheme - I'm sure it's deeply flawed on a health note but hey :D

    looking forward to seeing a girl i used to work with who i haven't seen in about 3 years - she is bonkers so we should have a good giggle! :rotfl:

    back to work tomorrow but am trying not to think about that yet! bahhhh! :mad:

    Little H, you're welcome. I find it really hard to read about great women on these boards who plod and struggle thanks to men holding them back. I have to be honest and say I don't get it as I have never felt fear at being alone. My little flat is by no means perfect but I have worked damn hard to keep it and it's a happy place for me. Being single is as brilliant or as awful as you make it. I wish you some clarity in 2011 lady. You've done really well X
