yep...just feel sad for him and for B. Actually I think this is what I feel most sad about and the hang ups that I have about her not having a daddy around and coming from a broken family
Sal, its not a bad thing you know. I expect as Bea grows up she will come in conatact with many children and adults from 'broken homes'. The fact is it effects people in different ways, it could be the making of Bea. As you know I come freom a 'broken home' although I never class it as that. As did many of my school peers, some of those peers felt they need to do certain things in school and once they left to make themselfs feel better etc. Yet many (including me) can relish and grow as a person through coming from a different family.
Never, ever, ever feel like you have made Bea life any worthless or any less normal. The fact is her father made that happen, in order for you to stabalise her life you did what you need to do... She will thankyou one day, I can assure you. As long as you provide for her and allow her to see her father (either together or alone) she will do just fine. A family and home life is what a 'family' makes it, just because its broken in some eyes in others its not, please don't streotype yourself.
Still thinking of you this weekend and get those ground rules sorted asap. Then you, him and Bea will be singing from the same sheet and know what to expect etc.0 -

Sal,
You, more than anyone knows where I am coming from when I say this- as Bea's mother, part of our duty is to teach our children how to love and show love to others. Your relationship with XOH is what is going to teach her that...
I look at my life now: DH who despite his best efforts find showing love and affection towards me virtually impossible perfectly mirrors his parents. They stayed together 'for the kids' and are unhappy. Miserable.
My Mom stuck with my step dad (who told her he didnt find her 'attractive' countless times) 'for the kids' and now I find myself in almost the EXACT SAME SITUATION.
Do you want B to grow up thinking that a happy relationship is one without love/affection/passion? Personally, I think she will appreciate parents who in the long run are happy and in fullfilled relationships. Yes, it IS difficult now but think long term, think about what you are showing to your child. You are teaching her to strive for love, not to accept sub-standard relationships and teaching her respect.
As a final act of whatever love you have for XOH, its only fair you release the dream as it is just that-you can then both move towards finding someone who loves you and respects you and shows you the deep love and affection we all deserve.
