What a bloomin' day. Short work one, but intense none the less. Got lots done though.

Home life a lot more fraught!!! DD2 (aged almost 17) exceptionally trying! Seems to wish to challenge absolutely everything - has (privately) had me in tears twice tonight, and been the cause of one enraged telephone conversation ... can't even go there yet!! Actually feel so let down by her. Normal pride of 98% down to about 20% at the moment.

One month today until family holiday (must go and get spending money soon, especially as Euro seems to be on the up). Can't wait - has been quite a trying year so far in terms of keeping costs frugal (remember this was totally alien to me at the start), but seem to be achieving it slowly but surely! Only 3 more days till the halfway mark (182.5 days!!).

Fitflops comfy, but spend is way high!!! One of my friends recently bought the AVON ones (similar style) for £18 and said they are equally as lovely to walk in??

Long work day, so feeling oh so weary! Was up at 4 this morning, so now taking it's toll!!!

Remember how bad my DH is at gift shopping (do you recall from a couple of weeks ago the debacle of the two beautiful boutique gifts, gift wrapped in the same bag despite being for two different people), well, his latest offering (yesterday) was to bring home a brand new gift for someone else, that didn't have a label on it ... he didn't get why I got cross (ish) about this and told him it would need returned, his response was that you only pull the label off anyway ... I told him if he didn't take it back and get it swapped for one with a label on, I'd be pulling his head off. To be fair he has done it, however, has also told me in no uncertain terms that he point blank refuses to do anymore gift shopping for me, and if I want to waste anymore of his lunchtimes I can just whistle:whistle: bit harsh isn't it??? Think I might have just scorched my personal gift purchasing service ... it's fine ... I'll work on him :rotfl:

Just chatted to parents - hadn't realised hadn't spoken to them for 'weeks' - oops! Was very pleased though that Mum dropped into the conversation that my DD's had called her last week, so at least wasn't totally gubbed by it all!

DD2 (who was in so much trouble last night) is slowly redeeming herself (well, baby steps)! Although she did think it was exceptionally cruel to take her on holiday for 2.5 weeks on hand luggage only!! :)

    Day 181 Wednesday 30th June
Money Spent - £1.85 whoopsie shop and £3.50 Zumba

Another long work day ... but very productive! Feel exhausted though already. Meant to be on day off tomorrow, but needed due to shortages - can see more and more of this to be honest happening over the next 2 years as public sector cuts bite.

DD3 now in phenomenal amount of trouble. Has beaten all previously known records by getting herself grounded for the entire summer on the first day of school holidays!! She decided to take a train trip with friends into the city (35 miles away), without asking permission or telling anyone where she was going OMG!! Fortunately DH works in the city and was able to 'collect' her, once we'd tracked her down. She knew so well she was in the wrong, but still chose to do it! Totally unbelievable behaviour from her! As a consequence DD2 now also daytime grounded for not stopping her, or reporting her (well, she did, but was 5 hours too late by then - she'd wanted to go to her friends without babysitting her little 12 year old sister!). Oh well, hope they enjoy housework for the next 4 weeks!!!

Didn't really enjoy zumba as majorly hot, and as mentioned before, quite tired, so don't feel as if I put my all into it today! Which is a waste of money :-( Oh well, hopefully perk up for next week.

Halfway through the year today, and trying to catch-up with what's happened, what's not happened, where I'm still slacking!

Well the obvious slacking is I should be a full 11lb lighter than I currently am (whoooooops!), however, that's a full 6 months off the fags today, and I'm £2,500 less in debt than I was on the 1st of Jan :T:T

My house is a bit cleaner, I'm a bit healthier, some of the jobs have been done, and life satisfaction is fairly high! I've got enough money saved for two holidays to happen without resorting to adding anything extra to credit - all kids and DH doing okay, and we're all adapting well to frugality with a wry smile at times!!

Our new family motto is "We're not skint, we just don't have money to spend :o" is now firmly ingrained into our everyday existence's, even the cat and rabbit purr it!

Cannot thank everyone enough for the support to date - I think it's been amazingly successful so far (okay, still fat, but healthily and happily fat, just bit more effort required) and here's to the next 6 months  xx

    Day 184 Saturday 3rd July

Money Spent - £10 cash from dispenser - for coffee
    Hours / Days since last cigarette - 6 M, 0W, 2D
Number of sweets / cakes etc. - none
Week weigh in on a Thursday: (3/35lb)
    HL Score: 6/10

Climbed another mountain today - must do a page of tick off list tokeepa proper record! Had a brilliant time, but it did pour down for a bit (soon dried off though). Had bougth 'ready' food for the evening dinner, so was easy to just come home, make that and then fall into bed. Hence why I've been up for the past 3 hours already!!!

Also used a lot of petrol up in getting to the mountain, so suspect that's going to impact on end of month results, but is worth it.

Spent the whole day doing house-work and food shopping! Got amazing whoopsie buys in ASDA to the point we had a reasonably healthy fresh food feast that cost about £1.50 (to us) but would have been over £20 had we bought it all new. Gorgeous, lovely fresh berries, apricots, peaches etc. Spent a little more than I'd hoped to, however, couldn't pass up the opportunity of all the fresh fruit, veg, yogurts etc. Mmmmm .... Even got some whoopsie lunches for tomorrow thrown in!

House is gleaming now as well, all beds stripped, garden looks gorgeous - can start the week at least knowing it's all done!!

MIL diagnosed with breast cancer today :(:(:( Fortunately early diagnosis which hopefully means treatment via simple(ish) surgery; radiation therapy etc. DH justifiably gutted!

Gran looking awful - spent an hour with her after work (my gran - not related to MIL), just a reminder of how old and vulnerable she is! Kids had done some housework for her, and made her tea etc. and listened to her moan (she's a winger - but we still love her for it!!) for ages!:o:p:o

Feels wrong therefore to go on and talk about the triviality and greed of eating a Mars Bar , or how long a day it was at work :o and that I feel so tired - it's just not comparible really.

Anyway, called my parents (abroad) to say hello and check all was well there - and it was :). They're basking in the sunshine, I could hear their cat purring away, and they were full of the joys of summer which was lovely. Mum convinced me to lend her my (very) expensive dress that I wear to weddings -for this one in September, I said absolutely yes, until it became obvious it was more of a 'give' than a loan ... and at £200 for the frock (a few years ago) and my lack of dress replacement funds had to reign it in a bit!!! I might need it again myself one day, although have worn it for both friends and family now. Lend or not to lend, that is the question!

Anyway, asked her could I borrow her car to go to Gibralter and she said yes ... so I guess a dress might be fair exchange??

If you're of the praying disposition, would welcome MIL in your thoughts tonight x
