At one point I bought quite a lot of clothes off ebay, and the bargains I got more than made up for the occasional disappointing one. Just a pity that this purchase of yours was one of the disappointing ones.

The net cost to me was less than a fiver, because I had survey money in paypal that I didn't really count as "real cash". So, for that cost, even if all we end up doing is trimming cushion covers or making lavender bags with it, it will still pay for itself.

I am sure, though, that it will get worn for something. It is a nice dress, and a lovely colour, just that the fabric is a bit nylony rather than floaty, IYSWIM.

I would so recommend Asos.com for all the work clothes. I've taken a few stabs in the dark with work clothes from there and yes men's clothes are slightly easier to buy into but there's some pretty good funky stuff and a few girls at work buy their whole wardrobes from there!

And it's very cost effective!

Could you try somewhere like a Karen Millen/Coast dress outlet? I used to have one near me and they often had ball dresses in with a third off. If it's an older season dress,it might have even more off, but current season stock will be sold at a third off. Not sure where the nearest one to you is, but it might be worth a trip to an outlet village where there will be lots of choice if there isn't a lot near you.

Or Debenhams, if you can catch their Mega Days or Sale - their debut dresses are lovely.

  • Hypno,

If you know where an outlet village is at for the dress you want - can you flag it up here- If it's close to me I'll happily buy it on your behalf and post it to you in Norfolk. I guess if DD has tried the dress on in the shop you'll be sure what you buy at the outlet will be exactly what you want.

I'm sure I'm not the only one reading this who would happily do the same - prepare to receive a load of private messages as soon as you let us know... all in the name of helping a fellow-MSEr :D

Life is truly hectic so not really able to catch up much but well done on weight loss, good luck with the mortgage, the handbag looks divine (and you deserve it). Surfbabe good to see you on here and best wishes to you to.

Another nosey question - can you really buy that bag in Norwich?!? - Before anyone thinks I'm being really rude about Norfolk folk, I'd just like to say that in all the years I lived in Norwich, I never saw a shop that sold such things! *I'll get my coat* :p
