Then I bought a book for half price that I have been meaning to read for ages.....and I should get it from the library, but I am a shocker for forgetting to renew/take back and the potential fine is more than the book costs.....so probably cheaper to have bought the book.....

We were like that too with library books, what worked for us was library books were kept near the front door, and we always had the same number out each time, so knew if one was missing. Also switched them all at the same time, so looking at one book let us know if we were nearing problems.

Is there a library near work, maybe a library lunch could be scheduled in like your weightwatchers weigh in.

Also lots of library's now let you renew by phone or internet at least once, if it's overdue it at least stops the charges accumulating. The exception is if someone's requested the book.

40SM......it doesn't quite feel like the celebration your post suggests! It is rather sad that something we worked on together for 20 years, is now just mine, if that makes sense. It is good in the fact that I can take it on myself, and give the children somewhere stable to stay without the need to sell and uproot etc, but it doesn't feel that great TBH.

se.....even when the mobile library van parked 20 yards from my door, I still had late library books. I am a library failure :o

Got home a bit late, so had to rush through a bet......should make a little from it, so am happy enough, but of course my dodgy laptop cable chose that moment to die, so everything needed reloading and seemed to take twice as long because I was in a hurry!! Still, all sorted, and another few quid in the pot in the next few days.

Squizz, I don't even have a Waterstones card - it is a disaster all round!! still, as punishment, it has come out of my grocery budget, so I will be reminded of why I can't afford to go "nice shopping" every time I think about buying bread and milk for the rest of the month - should act as a deterrant for next time!!

Indeed it is. Mixed emotions right now.

As for waterstones, I know in the big scheme of things it is not the end of the world, but it was a reminder how easy it is to spend money you can't really afford or justify!

But I have read all the books that I have got - several times over. I love to read, but don't spend lots on books generally, because I don't have the ability to justify it.

So I have lots of books, and if I don't enjoy them after the first read, I donate them to charity shops or sell them.....if I do enjoy them, it is likely they will be revisted several times over the years.

If I am on holiday, I do buy several to take with me, and we often find a "swap it" visitor library there, where we can leave our books behind that we have read, and pick up one that someone else has left behind instead!
