My favourite place for book bargains is carboot sales, from the private sellers. e.g. Got a brilliant hardback telephone directory sized Vegetarian Cookbook for 10p, and the recipes so far are brill, it looked brand new. There are a few of the smaller charity shops that are OK, but a lot of the big ones charge as much as you'd pay for new on amazon.

Hope you've had a good sleep Hypno, and that the book is good.

Only 10p's on scratchie's today, did a redeem request for a 5 pound amazon voucher from one free bingo site yesterday.

    Friday.......:)

10ps only on scratches, but £5 received in the bank, so that has been transferred to the right pot.

Nothing else to report. I can call the halifax today to find out the exact amount of my "new" mortgage, and my monthly payments, then I can work on my budgets over the weekend.

    Have a good one x

You may well laugh at this but I am actually nervous about starting to share my mortgage with OH when he moves in after we get married. It's weird but I have managed to buy this place on my own with some help from my parents to get on the ladder, and I have managed to deal with my debt on my own. Not sure how I am going to manage sharing financial goals!

I think it's a perfectly reasonable way to feel, just before I got married to OH I told him marrying him was the biggest risk I'd taken, he looked shocked.

We're currently going through a different stage in our financial relationship where pensions and savings are in 'names' depending on tax savings, so although we'd prefer everything to be shared equally, it's at least on paper not equal at all.

urg, I should think it feels as odd for you moving from sole names to joint, as it does for me moving the other way! Since I was 18, everything OH and I had was in joint names.....and it did feel odd changing it. But I know that it will soon feel "normal" and I am sure it will be the same for you.

se, pensions are always going to be a toughie aren't they because there is no way of "pooling" them until the cash is actually in the bank once it finally starts paying out!

mac - hope you have a good one too....:)

  • Hypno, feel for you. Changing land registry documents for me was incredibly sad. Just a piece of paper, but it was 'our' piece of paper.

Anyway, I hope the reading made for a better night's rest.

I didn't sleep too badly, thanks DC. It was almost 5am before I woke so that is a big difference from the 2am I have been used to recently. I hope I can get a couple of reasonable nights sleep in over the weekend, because the next two or three weeks at work are going to be very busy and I need to stay on top of my game.

I have a telephone based mystery shop to do this evening.....mustn't forget as it needs to be done as soon as I get home.

Good morning Hypno, glad to hear the house issue has finally been sorted. Sad that things had to come to this? Yes, but at least your home and that of your children is secure, and your OH can also move on in whatever he is doing. Good to hear your sleep is starting to improve and that you are keeping busy. Will look forward to seeing your revised signature - I still reckon you will only have the mortgage by this time next year, if you keep going the way you have been.

Well, over the weekend I will put together a new signature, start a new shiny sheet of squares and decide on my new targets. I hope that I will, indeed, only be left with the mortgage by next Easter, but also I know that there are things that need doing which will slow up repayments, eg house repairs, spending time with the kids, skiing, and getting some emergency savings behind me.

The children are with their Dad this evening, so after my mystery shop call, I will have a whizz round the lounge so that I can sit and brainstorm in peace for a couple of hours.
