Well, over the weekend I will put together a new signature, start a new shiny sheet of squares and decide on my new targets. I hope that I will, indeed, only be left with the mortgage by next Easter, but also I know that there are things that need doing which will slow up repayments, eg house repairs, spending time with the kids, skiing, and getting some emergency savings behind me.

The children are with their Dad this evening, so after my mystery shop call, I will have a whizz round the lounge so that I can sit and brainstorm in peace for a couple of hours.

Good luck Hypno and remember there's plenty of minds here to thrash things out with if you need it (although I'm sure you won't!)

Looking forward to seeing you re-focused. Don't forget to have a treat after, even if it's an hour chilling with the TV!

40SM......it doesn't quite feel like the celebration your post suggests! It is rather sad that something we worked on together for 20 years, is now just mine, if that makes sense. It is good in the fact that I can take it on myself, and give the children somewhere stable to stay without the need to sell and uproot etc, but it doesn't feel that great TBH.

Sorry . Reading back I see that my post may have appeared insensitive. Sometimes when I am in a rush ( always) I just scan read and miss the main point ( ie the bittersweet) . I was justhappy that you have now got the mortgage sorted.

Morning all! Just popped on to say helloooo again! I don't know if you remember DH's car catching fire. Well, we finally bit the bullet and got a new to us car but ended up having to put it on an interest free card. Last night DH said to me 'how come you've not drawn out your boxes yet?' An hour later he came down with a nicely done chart with boxes ready to colour in!!!! You're getting famous hypno!

I'm working again today but only for an hour. Taekwondo takes up most of tomorrow - everytime I complain about the cost I think of skiing and shut up quick!

Hope the budget planning goes well hypno - hugs to you and all hypnoettes xx

    40SM - don't worry about it x

re nytol - hmm....doesn't really do much, but occasionally I take it to try and trick myself into thinking that I will get a good night's sleep as a result :o

Mudbath - I am glad the squares live on :D

    Gemmz, sally, beanie - hellooooo!

I can't update my figures, because Halifax haven't updated their records yet......they said ring back on Monday. They obviously didn't appreciate that I have a budget, signature and colouring chart to do over the weekend!

Not really - I did revise my target after OH left, to take into account the reduced household income.

My new target is to reduce the mortgage to £150k in the three years, from £186k (ish), but secretly I would like to have it reduced further......but I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.

If I get it down to £150k, though, that takes me to where we *would* have been had we been on a repayment mortgage from day 1, instead of going interest only for 6 years.....so it is a "catch up" target, that will at least make me feel that I am in no worse position than I would have been if we had been doing things the "normal" way, if that makes sense!!

Remember too, macgirl, that I currently have no idea what my mortgage is, and after all the associated costs and fees etc, it may well have moved me back down into the yellow zone.....but of course I needed to declare before the new one completed, so perhaps it is not a precise reflection of the real situation!!

    Roll on June's update though!!

I'd love to know what Halifax's reaction would be if you told them you had a colouring chart to do! :rotfl:

Good luck with all the planning over the weekend, hope you get a bit of good relaxation in as well x
