Hypno's "me, me, me, me, me," diary.....

Evening Hypno, my DD also gets eczema and it's very bad today. The cold weather always makes it worse - as does heat bizarrely.
Anyway, on Saturday a friend mentioned that her little girl used to get it bad too and she used THEMBA CREAM. Not only did it go, but has never returned.
It is very expensive, but I bought some from our local health food shop and we've used it twice a day since the weekend. So far, no difference, but it does say to persevere, so we will for now.
I really don't like using steroid creams so often, so am willing to try anything.0 -
Thankfully DDs attacks are much rarer now - it is stress that causes them generally, so with exams and her dad leaving, it is not great! When she was 7, she spent 6 months in wet wraps, and since then it has become an occasional issue, rather than the constant pain that she had in the early years.
I will investigate that cream - always good to have something good in the cupboard!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I thought it was the same ingriedients just in liquid form!
But I see your issue! Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!
How do you amass £70k in a year?! :eek:0 -
The only thing stopping me from switching to liquid is the price or lack of perceived value. There just looks to be more in a big box of powder.
However, I do seem to have lots of little holes in my clothes - especially jersey tops. My Mum is convinced this is caused by washing powder forming in little clumps and burning through the fabric  (I think she has far too much time on her hands to be dreaming up theories like that!)

Absolutely - it is fear that drives me right now - I have so much to lose, and am not prepared to lose it.
Sadly my DD has very bad eczema, so we tend to stick with the very few things that don't cause a flare up. With the stress that surrounds us right now, she has very sore skin, so I have ordered the powder we know won't make it any worse. I would love to buy the cheaper option, but sometimes that just isn't practical
nice neighbour gets me cheap 'household chemicals' and i ordered away without a care !!!...
Thought I was on to a winner . but two prescription charges later..oh no!0 -

Have you tried soapnuts? I brought a big bag for £2 and you use 6 shells for 4-5 washes, and obviously they're natural. They've saved me a fortune of washing tablets!0

Hypno and Macgirl have you considered not using washing powder and softener at all on clothes that just need freshening up? If you wash one lot of clothes without powder you will find residue of soap suds remaining from the previous wash. I have used wash balls instead of soap powder for years. I don't know if they help but I just presoak anything stained or squirt with stain remover. I have saved a fortune in powder and softeners and my towels etc come out really soft.0

Hi kezia-jay, being a long-time MSE disciple, I haven't used fabric softener for yonks. However, that is something I might try, so thanks for mentioning it
DD is 5 and I've always used non-bio - sparingly - but my GP reckons that isn't the cause.....I eliminated cows milk too for a time, but that didn't help either. Hopefully she will grow out of it.0
