Hypno's "me, me, me, me, me," diary.....

My £20 lasted about 9 days - tragically it came to an end when I was invited to a girls night out......so it didn't get frittered away as it might otherwise have done, but it didn't really last as long as I might otherwise have liked.
I will be doing it all again starting 1st March, to see if I can make it last a bit longer this time!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
The not spending to feel better part - does make sense and is incredibly self-controlled, so well done for that.
Glad you've had such a good weekend so far, sounds like just what you needed0 -
All makes perfect sense Hypno and is definitely a good idea
I spent 50 quid in Sainsburys after some bad news this week, it is still my default setting when things go wrong.
take care of you

It was absolutely the best thing for me to have done. I stayed with friends who I have known almost all my life, who are more like family to me than friends in many ways, and who I love dearly. I laughed, I cried, and I felt comfortable.....which was just what I needed to do.
Tomorrow is busy - paper rounds, skiing, then the children are out with OH and his family.....so tomorrow afternoon I reckon I will tackle the mountain of washing that has found its way home from Norway.........Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I know what you mean, Z.....but it is a case of needing to do it, not just wanting to control something. I am coming to the end of my financial month with £20 to cover the last bits of groceries /petrol/bus fare.....but if I have missed something, or forgotten to add something into the calculations, or I have to do an unexpected trip to my Nana's which results in an extra tankful of petrol, then I suddenly find myself either having to borrow money, which I then need to repay, or incurring a bank charge, which can then spiral quickly into more charges, and more problems.
If I can keep a tight rein on the finances at this stage, it means that my head is not in the sand over money, and I can be confident that at least one thing is as it should be.
It also means I don't get carried away trying to help me and the children *feel better* by spending - it is easy to think that we can take our mind of things by going shopping for nice things, or having a takeaway, booking a trip to the theatre etc.....spending is not going to help in the longer term, so I must ensure that I don't get into that bad habit at this very early stage.
Hope that makes sense......the other thing is that in the past I have used food as the thing I could control......at least controlling the finances is healthier than bingeing and purging.....
It does makes sense, and I'm not saying "Don't do it." I'm saying "Be careful."
Just watch your motivation about it - you're an over-achiever and this is one area of life where moderation is important.
The word "obsessed" is a bit of a red flag. For example, when driving, I make every effort to avoid hitting stuff, but I don't obsess about it. Obsess implies an emotional input, when you really need to stick with pure logical/decision making inputs.

My sister and family have finally arrived from the USA - funeral is Thursday. Have had a lot of laughs so far - mainly at mum's expense in the nicest possible way.

There's no friend like an old friend is there? Some old friends of mine called round unexpectedly today. They emigrated years ago, but are back visiting for family reasons. They have done really well for themselves and I'm so happy for them.
It was great to catch up and has made me feel quite reflective today - in a good way. Glad you have "filled up your cup".
