So sorry to hear your news Surfbabe. You are in my prayers and Hypno is right you have to deal with this in the way that is best for you. xxx
Hugs to you to Hypno.
Well done on finding the paint haul. I'd need a skip before I'd be able to find out if I had any left overs, lol!0 -
Can i just mention for the benefit of all, places like poundland and wilkinson for shampoo shower gell, household cleaners etc. Its very rare that i buy any of those products in tesco et all as i can generally pick it up a pound or so cheaper in those stores and if no special journey is required then it is definately worth it.
You are sooo right. If you live near them places like Home Bargains and B&M are excellent, too. I tend to only buy other places if there is a special offer on, like a fairly large £2.03. (Am I the only one to notice how steeply Tresemme prices have shot up in the last while?!) The one I REALLY don't get is Boots: I find it very expensive and only go there is there's an excellent special offer on, or it's something I can buy there that I have to pay the full price for anyway, like my Est!e Lauder foundation, so at least I can claim the points as well. My motto is: if you can't find it cheaper than paying full-price at Boots for it, then you clearly aren't trying hard enough! Please call me 'Pickle'

Currently they're supposed to be more efficient than doing bits and pieces of handwashing dishes, not sure where I read it though. One of the main advantages is no dirty pots on the side waiting to be washed, they just get put in the dishwasher ready for the next run when it's full.
It's true - apparently the new ones are supposed to use less water than handwashing - but they don't ake into consideration the effects of mining the materials, construction and getting rid of it when it doesn't work anymore. Please call me 'Pickle'

I've been to B&Q and they are doing 2 x 2.5l Dulux tins for £20, so I bought one for DD's room to do in half term, and one for DS room to do in the Easter Hols......plus a tester pot for the lounge and so spent £20.98 which is not bad - they will both use some of the cream/white paint I found in the garage as well, and of course I have brushes and gloss for the woodwork, so £20 to do two teenagers' bedrooms is not bad going, and certainly a whole lot better than I expected!
Then I went to Tesco, armed with my £20 and got everything on my list for £18.71 :T
So, All in all a good day - the children are with OH, and I have a couple of hours to finally watch the DVD of the Take That concert we went to in the summerSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. It wasn't available in store, so I have ordered it online - they should send it out on Monday which means I should get it by about Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to getting back into it.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I had the video to that as well and I had to re-home it in a charity shop. I'm be unimpressed if I have to do the same with my DVDs once Blu-Ray takes a grip. :mad:Please call me 'Pickle'

Hypno - glad you managed to find some paint. I must admit - I don't tend to do a lot of prepping - I just paint!

When we moved in here over 6 years ago, I gave the whole house a quick decorate - minimal prep, and little in the way of glossing woodwork I (in fact I think I bleached it, and left it at that!) with the intention to go around room by room and redo things properly.
Then Dad died, and I lost all enthusiasm.......then the clutter crept in......and the rest is well documented on these diaries
So it is about time I redid it, and with a bit extra prep than last time......although quite how much I do will depend on how I feel on the day!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
