THank you for all the hugs and support. Mum died at 8.45 this evening. My brother and aunt and I were with her, she had had the last rites and she died peacefully. Have told kids who are away at Uni and they are devastated.

    Thank you again

So sorry to hear your news Surfbabe:kisses3:. May your memories bring you comfort .

    Take care sweetie

  • I'm sorry to hear your news Surfbabe, but I hope it's some comfort that you were there with your mum when she died. Go gently.

Hypno, sounds like a positive plan for the weekend for you and the mini-Hypnos. I'm impressed that Master Hypno gave you the £20 back that he borrowed :D Good luck shopping with the calculator.

    Have a good weekend all.

Kittikins, I will def get the Tesco value tabs then......and will let you know how I get on!

I've just managed to pick up a couple of Mystery shops for next week - one for a sandwich, and one that pays no fee, but does reimburse me for spends which will provide a nice present for the present box......so that is also worth doing.

Hiphouse, DS is very good at making sure he pays back what he borrows, and he very rarely borrows anything (usually its the other way round :o). I certainly don't have to remind him that he owes me - as soon as he gets his paper round money, or goes into the city to go to the bank, he will pay me without any hassle. I think the situation we have been in over the last 10 years has sunk in for him, and he knows that debt is not necessarily a good thing, but on a short term basis, and paid promptly, it can be a help.....:money:

Oh, forgot to ask, how is your friend Em getting along, Hiphouse? My sister had a fall on the ice on Friday and I was thinking thank goodness she only hurt her leg and not her hands!

  • Surfbabe - so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you and your family.

Hypno - hope you're ok. I have no idea how you cope in these situations and I think you're doing amazingly. It sounds like a good idea to have some things planned, like decorating, when the kids are away to keep you busy. It also means you are putting your firm mark on the house, who'd have thought you'd have come the queen of decluttering! ;)

Hope you have a lovely day today, I'm just out for a 4 hour run  Yes I AM stupid :)

This time last year I would have been out running for hours on a Saturday morning too - I must get back to it, I must, I must.......

As for Queen of decluttering - well, I still have some way to go, but it is a whole lot better than it used to be.

Partly assisted, of course, by one quarter of the household packing his stuff up and walking out..........

  • I have no doubt you will run Hypno and will put 100% into that like everything else! Are you eating properly yet? It's crappy when things hit you like this, I'm sure people will tell you to look after yourself, eat properly etc but it's easier said than done.

I suppose your decluttering has been assisted by a certain somebody, but I think I was trying to say I admire how you are picking up the pieces and making it back into your home for you and the kids, but a different home now. Does that make sense? I am rubbish with words!

Surfbabe, My sincerest condolences for your loss. xxx

morning missus. My facebok froze on me last night, didnt mean to ignore!! sorry!!!

Can i just mention for the benefit of all, places like poundland and wilkinson for shampoo shower gell, household cleaners etc. Its very rare that i buy any of those products in tesco et all as i can generally pick it up a pound or so cheaper in those stores and if no special journey is required then it is definately worth it.

At work today but on my own in the office so will stick around for a bit of company if thats ok? and hypno i'm a dab hand with a paintbrush if you need some help. xx

P, you know you are always welcome - paintbrush or no paintbrush, the kettle is always on!

IMD, you make perfect sense.....I know exactly what you mean, and yes, this is all about making this OUR home, in the most sensible way (ie costwise) but also in a sensitive way, re the children.....

And yes, I am eating more now - not as much as I did before (no bad thing there) but I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner these last two days, so hopefully I can get back into some sort of healthy routine over the next few days.
