How about a coach holiday?Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi. I went with Traveleyes to Tunisia and wasn’t hard work at all, maybe they do things differently to other organisations out there. Everyday was very relaxed and slow paced. I had a wale of a time meeting new people on the holiday from all over the world and can’t wait for my next trip with them to Cape Town in February.0

Of course there were lots of people. Many were in groups or couples and older people aren't as outgoing as young when it comes to hanging out with others. If you just go up to people and start chatting it usually lasts a few minutes then people re group with whoever they're with. I found eating in the evening the most tricky and ate early at around 6.30. Maybe I need to be bolder - tips welcome.0 -
Oh Margaret, why do you do it? You can and do give very good advice. But why the nasty comments on occasion? I'm sure anyone reading Catbells post know exactly what she meant about "chatting to people." Perhaps I am missing an attempt at humour.
Thanks for your kind and concerned comments although I'm sure Margaret meant well. I am very outgoing compared with many of my friends - married and single - and have been on Ramblers and Explore holidays where I've met lots of people. My kids go away on their own back packing and usually end up meeting others but I'm on a different budget now I'm in my 50s and things are....well.... just different when you're a bit older.0 -
How about a coach holiday?
Not yet HOWMUCH! I'm pretty active and climbed the Atlas mountains a couple of years ago. Last year went camping and trekking in the wild west USA, deserts and mountains. One day when I can't do this I would probably go for train travel but am not keen on coaches anyway.0 -
A friend of mine holidays on her own with Voyages Jules Verne. The do hols without a single supplement but she tells me there have always been a fair few single people on the 'non single' holidays..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Thanks for the reinforcement James. I'm single and used to travelling alone but I thought this sounds a great idea - lots of new friends to meet and possibly a new slant at looking at places. I also liked the fact that people from all over the world go on the different holidays.0 -

My remark was meant to be very light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek, no nastiness was intended at all. I just could not resist the image that came into my head of Paris being empty of people, or people who were robbed of the power of speech.
Coach holidays have been mentioned. We went on one to the Rhine a few Christmases ago, and where we went this Christmas the hotel was mainly full of coach parties. I wouldn't like a coach holiday because I don't like being organised and told what to do. The people on the coach holiday at Christmas had 2 excursions, one to Warwick and one to Stratford, an hour there then had to come back for 1 pm lunch. But they never went to Coventry, 3 miles away, not even to see the famous cathedral!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
