Oh Margaret, why do you do it? You can and do give very good advice. But why the nasty comments on occasion? I'm sure anyone reading Catbells post know exactly what she meant about "chatting to people." Perhaps I am missing an attempt at humour.

Nasty? That seems a bit extreme and I'm sure no such thing was meant. Some people of course are a little more shy than others , and perhaps not as quick to see the opportunities to strike up a chat with people they don't know when travelling. That's a skill that solo travellers would do well to consider practising..
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

...There are people in Paris ...

Yes, Margaret, but theyre all PARISIANS. Even the French hate Parisians and anyway, they absolutely cannot speak English, even whilst they're taking your money. And if you try using French to them, well, it's the only time you'll ever see them smile.

It's not always easy to strike up conversation with random strangers.I admit it's taken me a few years to get used to this. I personally have found Dublin to be the friendliest place I have visited. Plenty of things to see and do too.

No I don't think using the word "nasty" was extreme. The OP asked a question about singles holidays. Some people took the time to answer the question constructively some did not. I am sure when Margaret sees my post she will make a reply and I look forward to that. I however will not post on this thread again as I don't want to detract from the question asked.

Not sure if this would be to your liking or not but this year I am going to Tuscany with a travel company that caters for visually impaired and sighted people together. Not as carers, but as companions and descriptive eyes etc. They go all over the world. Not sure if I can post a link to their site (don't really know the rules properly) but happy to pm if you're interested. The costs are very reasonable and you will get to meet loads of new people. I'm really looking forward to it.
