I know what ramifications means, I just don't get why the 'ramifications' are so important.0 -

And people who have promised them to kids, well you've only yourselves to blame, surely you should know that there was every possibility you wouldn't get them at that price?
I think there are just a few antagonists on here now who didn't actually see the deal on the Argos website, didn't order one, didn't have money taken (which is still outstanding) and it doesn't actually affect.
So can we ignore these peoples posts please now and hopefully they won't have anymore sport!
Cheshire_Carper, you sound like you know what you are doing, any help would be much appreciated!0 -
The examples you used Cheshire were the extreme. It was ONE error on the argos site, hardly throwing the whole world into turmoil.
Also, as someone else pointed out, within minutes of this thread being posted people knew there were problems with it but people went on trying to order and promising them to their children!0 -

Excuse me, I'm not trying to antagonise anybody, I post on this board on a daily basis and followed the thread. I'm merely having an opinion, just like everybody else0 -
With all due respect, the theory one can read in Law text books and what happens in the real World can be different.
For example, (as far as I am aware) any English legal authority enabling recall of acceptance is a grey area. eg Argos advising the customer that the offer has not been accepted before the customer was aware of the despatch.
Just playing Devil's advocate here.
Hey, perhaps it's time for a brave MSEr to go for a test case and clarify the legal position.0 -

Argos haven't advised many of us that the order has been cancelled, mine is still showing on the website as despatched. I was told by Home Delivery network that the package was recalled and I rang Argos.0 -
This is already SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO tedious. Although it was on website for a while none of the links worked. It wasn't possible to buy online, it wasn't possible to ring and reserve, it was out of stock for home delivery..... Come on!
And I WOULD have loved to bag a dsi for £80. DS got one from Father Christmas and DD has now decided she would like one for her next birthday. But I have a few weeks to look or she may decide to trade her DS in at Game.
But I didn't think for one minute this was genuine and I'm certainly not going to get irate flogging a dead horse. Let's see if we can have this moved to "expired"!“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -

How very mature. Let's ignore the posts stating the patently obvious cos we disagree with them and they don't align with our thinking.“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0 -

Ok, imagine this type of thing happening increasingly. Companies can see other companies ignoring their own t's & c' and also consumer statutory rights. They also see nothing being done about it, because the great british public are so accepting that it just doesn't matter to them that they are being treated in this way. So next time it wont just be Argos, it will be John Lewis or Marks and Spencer etc etc.
We have consumer rights for a reason. We need to defend them also, otherwise what's the point?
As for your second point about problems ordering...there was only a problem online. People could still go instore, phone and text, all morning. The offer was also back at night only this time you could aso order online. Now if Argos were so concerned about this 'glitch', why would the ability to order re-appear 8 hours later? That also gave the impression that this was a go ahead offer.Herman - MP for all!0 -

No, it wasn't. It was available for home delivery by telephone. A csa said there was still stock available to be ordered this way and the price was confirmed at the time.Herman - MP for all!0
