Yes but you used buying a car as an example...
This was a dsi priced nearly half the normal price....that would be a massive pricing error for a car and so my point still stands, by all means try your luck, but don't get so worked up about it when you don't get the goods.0 -

And people who have promised them to kids, well you've only yourselves to blame, surely you should know that there was every possibility you wouldn't get them at that price?
I didn't get one, didn't want one, but if you had seen the sale page, you would not think it was a pricing error. I clicked on the page around 11am and the price was £79.99, save £70, sale banner at the top.
The fact that companies such as Currys were happy to price match, having checked the Argos website, shows it to not have been an obvious price error as Currys would have wriggled out of the price match if they could.
I think if people have ordered by telephone, speaking to a human being for that order, double checked the price is correct with them, had money taken from their account, and had a note from a courier saying it was already despatched, I don't think it's unreasonable to tell your child the longed for item was on its way.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Shops do loss leading promos all the time. Tesco before Cmas were selling pasta sauce at £1.50ish per jar, or £1 for 2. What's your point?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Oh well if they do them all the time what's everyone getting so worked up about? :rolleyes:0 -

I've just come back from Argos and picked up the sale leaflet. The DS is not in there.
On my website if I was to put a price in, it says 'save £xx' as the RRP is also entered and this is why the saving was shown. This is what happened on the Argos website. Argos will show that there was no intention to sell these goods at that price hence recealling as many as they could. They will state this in court as well and I am sure they will have all of their pricing lists etc... with dates on them to show that this was an error.
This was not a misleading offer, it was a mistake, a glitch. You win some you lose some. Are people really THAT desperate for a DSi??
All of you go sue Argos if you want, you can do this in the small claims court online easily enough. I'd love to know what happens, you have to file £30 to make the claim and then if/when they dispute it you then have to pay another £100 to fight them in court over it. And if you do not win that is £130 you have forked out for nothing. Big chance you take. It will be the judges word over yours at the end of the day and they won't care for kids crying about it.
Alternatively you could go on one of the Woolworths/Very/Additions etc... websites and use the £30 for a £60 spend for new customers code that is knocking around and get a DS for £69 instead of £99 and get 8% quidco. That would be £18 cheaper than you was all going to pay and you'll get a DS for £53 then.0 -

Not at all. We have 2 already. This isn't about a DSi for me, it's about a company ignoring it's liabilities and stomping all over consumer rights.
I'm talking specifically about the phone orders btw not instore orders.
It's not always all about money.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I think you misunderstand the term 'ramifications'. The item and the relative costs have no bearing on the principle in issue.0
