Money still hasn't been debited from my account so I'll believe it when I see it.

Its luck of the draw with stores honouring prices, it was an absolute no to me yesterday.

I thought yours said despatched last night? Did you pay on a credit or debit card? I'm still waiting to see if mine arrives!
  • I managed to pay for this item at the reduced price of £79.99 yesterday after the supervisor over-rode the 'correct' price of £149.99 as we had reserved it an hour before the website 'error' was discovered. However the store manager (who was manning the collection point) refused to hand the goods over as Argos "were not selling these at this price". I informed him that a bargain/contract had already been made as I had paid for the goods at the reduced price (ie offer/acceptance/consideration had taken place). However he refuted this as he had not yet handed over the goods. In the end, as he would not budge, I reluctantly took a refund (in cash, strangely, seeing I had paid by Credit Card - did he want to cover his tracks perhaps?) but insisted on £20 compensation for my wasted journey/petrol, to which he agreed.

I insisted on him giving me a copy of the receipt and got straight on to the PA to the MD of Argos (thanks MSE for this number!!) who phoned me this morning to again advise that, as the goods had not left the store, they were within their rights to cancel the transaction. I told her she obviously did not understand contract law as the store had already agreed to my 'offer' of £79.99 by accepting immediate payment on my Credit Card and that I was prepared to sue. Lo and behold, 5 minuted later she phoned back to tell me I could pick up the DSi at the reduced price of £79.99 today, so including my compensation I got it for £59.99!!

Cheers Argos!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:The only disappointment is the Store manager is not in today - would've loved to have seen him squirm.......

Don't let them bully you or fob you off if you know you are right!!

They wouldn't do that for me yesterday instore.

I've just called to ask them to honour the price and override the new price. (You can't say I don't try. :rotfl:)

The manager refused and said that Head Office has explicitly told all stores to not sell at the cheaper price.

So well done to those who got this honoured, 'your' manager was either incompetent or a renegrade. :D

*goes off to consider whether it's worth touting the reserve email around comet/currys/gamestation etc......* :D

Well done, nice to see someone else who understands contract law. Not sure if the person you dealt with at head office had the initials of AM, if so, I've explained contract law to her previously, in writing, with a printout of a small claims court claim form attached that I'd filled in, ready to submit.

I'd make a point of taking a photo of the DSi, and the receipts, and a £20 note, and posting a copy to the store manager! Or even better go in and say

"I thought you should know that I managed to get the DSI for £79.99. If you'd not broken the law initially, Argos would've got £79.99 for the DSi, as opposed to £59.99, given that you gave me £20 ads a goodwill gesture".

  • Just collected mine from my local store today. I had reserved it last night by telephone. They did say the price had gone up to £149.99 but I showed them the printout at £79.99 and they let me have it for this price with no fuss. They told me I had a very good bargain there. Yes I Know!!:T

Would those who have got the store to overide the price please post which store it was?
