Well i know in Kent the coroner sent all the relevant paperwork to the registrar themselves, and when i phoned to make the appointment to register my dad's death they just checked they had the relevant paperwork before giving me an appointment time. The coroner also phoned me to ask which funeral directors I was using and sent a copy onto them too. The coroner was excellent. However from what you are saying I can only assume things are handled differently in different parts of the country ;)

I guess so. There may have been paperwork sent by the Coroner to the Registrarthat I wasn't aware of, but I had to collect the death certificate from the hospitral as it's the Registrar's proof that enables them to register the death. There may have been extra certification required by the undertaker in order for the cremation to take place, but he sorted it out with the hospital.
Ive got family and friends but my friends don't understand why I'm wanting to do all this.
Jill - sounds like you're doing grand. Whether there are 5 or 500 people at a funeral, the ones that count are those that cared. I guess your friends would need to walk in your shoes to understand why you're doing what you are.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    Thanks :)

I'm sightly confused, The hospital said I need to register it at our local councils office which is a sub district but when trying to get an appointment to register they have said because the hospital was in another subdistrict I need to register at the Main office of the district. I am really confused.

You don't think I'm being heartless trying to get all this done?

    Just about the opposite

On the practicalities side it does sound as if everything is sorted out with the will being found and the funeral being paid in advance, be grateful your friend sounds to have been an unusually well organised 22 year old

I'm back, I got the certificates and I am booked in for Monday to formally register the death, I have the funeral director tommorrow morning.

As for him being organised, He was, He was also scared of dying alone and without any formal plan for afterwards that was the sort of guy he was.

Its starting to hit me, he usually texts me after 11 and we'd be texting each other all day

Good to hear things are going smoothly. Now you're starting to feel the loss, just go with the flow. However you feel and whatever you do will be right for you. Best wishes.

I had a will, but not a paid for funeral at 22! But, if I were alone and from a ''lonely'' background perhaps I would have done? I can't say.

I think its regretful that anyone doesn't have a will, and if it were less unusal at 22 to have one, perhaps there would be fewer distressing and petty rows about belongngs?

Jill, far from heartless, it sounds like you are being the perfect friend: this must be why your friend named you NoK, knowing you'd deal with it so proficiantly and how he wanted.

Did he know this was coming?

Seems very unusual to be so organised.

Well done you for being such a fantastic friend to him :T

He didn't, if he did I would have moved in with him until such time. He was always well organised, telling me months before my birthday he had bought me a gift.

If I was a fantastic friend I would have seen him over christmas knowing he was on his own :( if the tables were turned I know he would have been at mine christmas morning. Sorry if I'm short, Its really hitting me now
