Abbey Account - Visa Electron Sent

Hi Folks,

Well I decided to apply for the "Abbey Account" Online and have been given one of them really handy to use everywhere Electron Cards...

Reading the Forums it has been said that some point in December the Abbey would not be sending Electron Cards anymore just Full Auth Visa Debit Cards which would be fine for me...

I did apply for the Account a good week after the Date and been declined an upgrade to a Visa Debit Card by Telephone Bank (They said they would Check, but I don't know if it was just an Internal Serach or a Credit Search but they didn't say anything)..

They advised me to write to my local branch to try and appeal this.. Sent a letter but not heard anything back as yet (Was sent very close to the Christmas Last Posting Date) so I guess its stuck in someones In tray for the time being..

Would do you people think? Any Buzz words I need to give to get this Full Auth Visa Debit Card or am I just stuffed and close the account down?

I thought all was great when they said I had Got the Abbey Account!! - Just not the Visa Electron Part

I said No to having a Basic Bank Account on the Online Application so I am just so confused with them...

When did you apply for the account? romour was that they will stop issuing them from 14/12/09.

I'm sorry I can't remember the date but it was sure after this...

Should I just class the Card as being damaged - Would this get me a Full Auth Visa Debit or another Electron which I don't want?

Full Auth would be fine, don't require a Full Visa Debit...

Id call them up and ask them to confirm when they will stop issing visa electron cards.

Anyway, I would close the account down, as Abbey has bad customer sevices. Some people have posted about this issue.

Open a current account with another bank, who will definately have a Visa debit card with it.

Had a look at the list and it says for "Abbey Account" which it says on my Online Banking that the so called Account I have is to have a Visa Debit Card..

Ah well, will see if I have any luck with this so called letter to the brach, if not think its time to say Bye Bye Abbey... Not getting my hopes up at all!

Reading another thread Today about Abbey it seems they tell a lot of lies to customers about running the account well and you can have this, that and everything and still can't... Does not seem like the bother!!

I just called them, They are not getting rid of visa electron and you will get a like for like replacement.

On their website, all accounts will have a Visa debit card, excluding the basic account.

Yeah they appear to taken all reference to visa electron off there website.

Even for there youth accounts.

Their Instant Plus account still comes with an Electron.
