I might just buy one to help you down off your high horse.

The cat was four months old. I had already tried to get up the tree and injured myself doing so. It was fireworks night. If you dont think it is cruel to leave a kitten up a tree on that particular night, then shame on you. This tree is higher than the rooftops round here. Not your bulk standard apple tree that is easy to climb. The cat was mewing helplessly up there and was clearly terrified. All we could do was stand and listen. People went in and shut their windows because they couldnt bear to hear it. If the RSPCA had sent someone to look, then they could have called the fire brigade who would have had big enough ladders to get in the tree. As it was, the FB wanted £500 to come out if the neighbour called them. They could not afford that. They would have willingly paid something to the RSPCA though to come and help but they just were not interested.
The Fire Service only attend at the request of the RSPCA,and it is a waste of resources taking this emergency service away from house fires and Road traffics accidents,I have never seen a skeleton of a cat up a tree

So a Dog more important than a child, thats whacko your obviously in turmoil when it comes to priorities I feel sorry for you. :(

I forgot that a baby can defend themselves against an abuser, what was I thinking.

Answer me this: how is a human baby's life anymore worthy of saving than say a puppy, or kitten? You'd only think such a thing if you had no regard what-so-ever for the billions of other life forms on this planet! I'm not specisist like most people who disregard animals because they can't speak human. I just feel that, as humans are the ones who bread cats and dogs etc to be what they are today, humans have an obligation to care for these creatures that, otherwise, whould not have exsisted.

Please don't feel sorry for me, I don't need sympathy and I'm quite aware of my priorities.

Besides which, babies have TWO parents; if one is willing to let the other abuse then surely that's their lookout? Why should I pay for their failings as parents?

Anyway, I don't want to turn this thread into a debate. I simply wanted to point out that your original post had no relavence to the topic. If you want to debate then please feel free to PM me.

And if you want to plug your charity then I suggest you do so in the charities board.

P.S, I'd just like to apologise to the OP; I didn't want to hijack your thread, just thought that Quincy's post demanded a reply!

havent seen doreen yet or ginger. mr mob told me last night after i started the OP that whilst i was writing the OP he was chatting with doren out the back and she said poor ginger cries on her front doorstep and sleeps on it and she has been feeding him there. daisy will not tolerate him ging into her garden which is where daisy spends most of her time. mr mob said she hadnt mentioned the CPL but we'll probably see her this evening when mr mob waters the grass. (with a watering can not a hosepipe).

i have also noticed that it looks like someones back in gingers original house. the back windows are further open than usual. maybe doreens had a go at them for a lovely lady of 81 she wont take any !!!!!!.

will also mention about the blue cross.

    cheers for all the advice.

I have to say if the problem with RSPCA is underfunding, surely pulling the plug on your donations is only going to leave more animals suffering. What about volunteering your time to help? I know they rely heavily on volunteers as funds are so tight. They are also restricted by health and safety re what they can and can't do and by the law re where they can and can't go.
I am an animal lover by the way ( volunteered with RSPCA for years) but also a mum. i believe that anyone is entitled to give to any charity they desire but any parent would surely value the life of a child above that of a pet. Children are pretty defenceless in the face of paedophilia!
Really sorry to go off track and I don't often jump in to threads that are turning into disagreements but felt quite strongly this time.

This is a wind up surely.

And back to the RSPCA... called them a couple of months ago to report a Farmer (I use the term reservedly) who had several hundred sheep in what had been a barley field next to a river, said sheep were dying on a daily basis, farmer dumped a cart load of turnips about once a week, sheep were frantic when that arrived, every day there were several dead or ones too weak to get up, others had fallen into the river and drowned, he only cleared up the bodies when he felt like it, as a farmers daughter I was appaled and poned the RSPCA... response was less than enthusiastic, sorry that is not our department, you need to contact Animal Health... who, never heard of them?...I'll give you the number...long silence... sorry I don't have the number to hand... how do I contact them then?... leave the details with me and I'll pass them on...DOH!...gave her the address etc... OK I will pass the information to Animal Health but it could take up to 10 day's before it is investigated... what, you must be joking?... no, sorry, that's the usual time it takes, thank you for calling, goodbye...I watched those sheep daily for two week's, still dead and dying everywhere and those that were still upright were giving birth now, never saw sign of any one 'inspecting' those sheep, eventually they were moved to another field, grass this time but only because his lease was up on the barley field and they had to be moved, he missed about a dozen who were left to their own devices, several of those died too, those left eventually disappeared one by one goodness knows to where. A waste of charitable donations in my opinion, to which I am entitled before someone bites my head off :-).
