I just came across this article and thought it was quite funny.
Although I dont know if shes trying to be funny or she enjoys poking fun at people

So are you a poundland snob?
Or are you like me and enjoy visiting such places.
I buy quite a few bits and pieces in there that would cost twice or three time as much in other shops

A large part of me would quite like to smack her in the face... (Will I get in trouble for saying that?)
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

She just sounds stuck up to me!
I go in there sometimes and yes, some of it is rubbish, but you could say that about many other shops. I tend to buy cleaning stuff in there as it's usually the same branded stuff as supermarkets, but cheaper.
Some of their stuff is more expensive than elsewhere, so you do have to keep an eye out!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

What a rubbish article! She's unlikely to shop anywhere on the high street, let alone poundland. Would have been better for the DM to pay a few pennies to a real, struggling middle class family to get a real angle.
Her virtual illiterate majesty would have struggled as much in Boots as she did in Poundland. Oh and the Chanel joke, was that even meant to be funny?
Poundland is great, within limits. I couldn't get my weekly shop there but often go in for the 8 lighters for a pound, air freshener etc. Often, you get the same stuff as you get in other shops at less than half the price just because the label is written in Turkish.0 -
I think she is trying to be funny but the artical is lacking somewhat in humour in my opinion she just comes across as an over paid snob. I cant see any shame in shopping in poundland why pay £2.50 for your kitchen cleaner when you can pay a pound. Did any one see the recent television programme about poundland there was a very well to do lady on there who is a regular patron she said why pay x amount for tea towels from harrods when she can get half a dozen for a £1 and when her dinner guests come round they are eating poundland salmon once its moussed up they never know the difference.
Personally i would rather bragg about my bargains than some over priced tat that will never get worn, eaten or used!:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

Oh lordy lord! Me too!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -

Without wanting to resort to inverse snobbery - it's not a massive surprise to read such a clearly inflammatory article about Poundland written by someone called Petronella
It's a typical DM approach to get someone write a 'lofty' piece by someone so 'out of touch' in order to get lots of indignant responses - all those clicks mean increased ad revenue after all :rotfl:
Jolly good for her for mingling with the 'grey' people for a day - I think most people would agree Poundland etc have been very successful for a good reason - people like to pay less for things. Some people live in a world where they don't have to shop around for basic goods. No need for them to patronise people that do under the guise of taking an 'interesting' (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) foray into the world of those who do.0 -
i dont like her coat !! lolResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0
