Well didn't get snowed in but spent a little more than expected at Mr T's :o. On the plus side though, my freezer is full and with my stores I should still be on target for my months allowance, who knows, I might even save a couple of pennies?? Here's hoping

Hope you are all okay and safe and warm.

braved the snow to get to our local Mr T's this morning - we were reasonably well stocked, but needed a bit of milk and veg to be sure we could make the weekend. ended up spending £17 odd on a selection of stuff that would normally cost about £13. no signs of panic buying, but shelves were pretty empty

yesterday was a NSD even though I had to go into work - managed to get back before the snow settled. I expect tomorrow to be a NSD.

Well did the inventory thingy and was aghast at how much i had in cupboards. However not so much in freezers. I do have enough meat etc to make up evening meals to last me till i get my money on 15th.
Havn't spent any money this year so far but i'm going to have to go to co-op later and get a few things.
I'm allowing myself £80 to last this month, due to large store but from then on in £160 per month. Lets just hope i can succeed.
We dont have a lot of snow here so nothing stopping me getting to shops and spending, other than lack of money. lol.

I would batch cook so that you get two meals each time you make anything.

Buy the 3 for £10 meat offers from supermarkets as they should each provide at least two meals so if you had one veggie meal this should provide you with meals for the week.

Use a slow cooker so you can use cheaper cuts of meats.

Buy veg and fruit on offer, buy large value packs of pasta, rice, noodles.

    Buy own brand yoghurts etc.

Anyone got any nice chicken thigh recipes?

I usually do them in the slow cooker, put all sorts of veg and potatoes in the bottom (whatever you like really) put thighs on top, cover the veg over with stock or gravy again your preference and then just leave. about an hour before you are going to serve give it a bit of a stir and season to taste.

Delicious and the meat just falls off the bone mmmmm

    Hope that helps

Just tweak my Mr A shop for delivery tomorrow which will last a week, it just over 30 pounds (usually my deliveries are 80+). I was determined not to spend that much so I've meal planned around my cupboard and order accordingly. I have no choice to stick to my meal plan as I broke my toe on New Year's Day (not an ounce of plonk involved either) and can't go shopping, which is good for the purse:j

Apart from tomorrows delivery I've had 4 NSDs

Well due to the snow my asda shop got cancelled, I will give asda their dues they called 3 hours prior to delivery (twice as I missed first call) and the lady was very apologetic but as I said to her I thought that it may be the case the roads are a mess here.

So I haven't spent anything yet, just using up store stuff - my meal plans gone out the window. I turned the LO spag bol (yesterdays tea) into chilli con carne for todays lunch and for tea I'm making roast parsnip soup http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3198/spicy-roasted-parsnip-soup never made it before but got loads of leftover parsnips to use up. I roasted the veg yesterday as I was making banana bread and had space in the oven - so all I've got to do is the "put it together". I'm actually surprised there's any of the roast veg left as oh tried it when it came out of the oven and start picking at it (men ). We having banana cake and custard for dessert.

I need to plan tomorrows around stuff in that we don't need stuff for, luckerly we have a corner shop that is close by for milk, so I may have to pop there for a few cartons as it looks like asda aren't delivering until Sunday to this area.

Went off a bit but just declaring No Spend so Far (when asda return money for undelivered order that is)
