Argh, just popped into Tescadiddles intending to buy only a few items, and we came back with more than planned.
This is what happens when I don't stick to my list. We did need those items, it's just that we don't need them yet... As for the rest of the shop, well, that was necessary. You know what it's like when you see a special offer you can't resist... Well, we're stocked up for a little while now. I don't think we'll have to go shopping at all next week
That's the bright side to tonight (that and the weather is clear here so I don't think we'll get any snow!).
Anyway, I'm rambling. I spent a grand total of £46.11, which means I've spent £64.81 of my £180.00 budget. I'll update my sig in a mo. I just realised my shopping bill did include 2 energy saving lightbulbs we needed (@ £2.50 each!) which didn't help *sigh* Ah, well.

Had to break into the grocery budget yesterday,59p for some bananas!
Seem to have plenty of everything else so didn't see the point of buying anything else.:j.
Now the snow has hit us it doesn't look as if I'll be spending much for a while.
Hope everyone keeps safe in the bad conditions.ilovetea xMake £2024 in 2024 £1161.08

Helen Hoping things will be ok with your DH -try not to worry, easier said than done I know. Thinking of you and your family x
A NSD for me today. Still not in cooking mode due to visiting DM every day. At least I had a stock of HM ready meals in the freezer and I'm afraid we've had to rely on those over the past days. Hoping we don't get snowed in at the moment....it would be a really bad time. At least I have a good stock of Milk Bread and Veggies so I think we would be ok foodwise. Budget still on track and siggy up to date, but I will need to stock up on meat at the weekend if I want to re-stock the freezer and do some batch cooking.
Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hiya Helen,
Please can you change my annual budget to £1450?
I hope you DH is ok, sometimes its just the waiting that is the worst bit1
I once had to go for a brain scan because i had a few odd symptoms and had to wait 2 days for the results....it was horrific because i convinced myself i was dying, even started debating how i was going to break the news to friends and family. hehe- and i wonder why people call me a drama queen!
anyway i turned out to be a-ok, and even got a lovely copy of my brain scan! i dont know why i wanted this ( i was young and stupid, maybe i thought i could use it as art..?!?) which is now lurking in my attic.
so im sure he'll be fine, and hope your doing ok?
Thanx,

Evening all!!
3 NSD's for me so far, well pleased.
Spent £2 today on fabric conditioner, bargain as 2 big ones in Mr A for £5, mum got them and I only had £2 so got a much better deal than she did!!!!
Updated sig, £28.45 so far for Jan.
Hope the weather isn't too bad for you all, apart from my little road being like a skating rink, the rest of the town is pretty ok. Hope I haven't talked snow up!!!

poppy-glos wrote: »cold cuts of meat with duphanious potatoes, not sure how its spelt! layer potatoes and onions (and thyme if you have it) in a dish, with the creme fraish, salt and pepper, and bake. to stop the cream boiling over you can stand your casserole in a roasting tin filled with water, i don't tend to bother though. the other way i make it is with parboiled pots (if doing roast for too many to do just roast pots for) i put as many roast pots in the roasting pan and any left over get put in a casserole with cream and onions and baked.
Many thanks for this recipe poppy-glos really appreciated. I will do this tomorrow with the ham, I have the potatoes and onion in stock - the thyme is in my herb pot somewhere under all this snow! It will be a good warm meal to look forward too as the snow is really deep out there and the weather man said we would get 40cm tonight (us poor southerners can't cope).
So kids back home after just one day at school! Still my DS is really happy, it is his birthday (15) and he will avoid the "birthday bumps" at school.
So a few more NSD for me.....
Helen Jelly, I do hope your DH gets his results soon - our thoughts are with you. My mother had kidney stones and was in absolute agony - she said it was worse than childbirth! The upside is that when they "pass" the pain is gone.

AllBuyMyself wrote: »I went into Sainsbury's as I was passing and got some bargains from the oops-a-daisy bin. 4 chicken thighs for 89p (reduced from 1.34) and 4 chicken breasts reduced from 6.71 to 3.24. Might not sound too cheap, but they were organic, free range and corn fed. I only buy ethical meat so most of the time I have to do without.
Has brought my spend up a bit but I've got some good stocks in the freezer now - although it's only one of those flap-at-the-top-of-the-fridge efforts, so can't get that much in!
Anyone got any nice chicken thigh recipes?
