Spent £6 yesterday evening in Tesco Express treating ourselves as kids were at Auntie's (though did get 4 loaves for 10p each!!)

Spent £20 today in Tesco but that's nappies for the week sorted.

We did get a takeaway the other night as I was in a foul mood (pregnancy hormones) and didn't feel like cooking, which means meals for the month will stretch further. Wasn't sure whether to include it but have decided to un-include my clothes spend the other day and include the takeaway instead as they are about the same... makes sense to me anyway!

So £343 out of £350 and a week to go

But technically I have all meals, loads of bread and milk so may make it and if I don't, I know why!

    Afternoon everyone,

My Feb GC has already started (Friday) and if you take a look at my sig you will see I've already made an enormous dent in it.

Total includes a £126 MrT delivery on Friday evening, which brought dog food, loo roll, and laundry tablets plus all the meat and main ingredients for all but 7 of Feb's meals. Obviously I will have to buy veg and fruit along the way. Total also includes £25 milkman bill, £53 odd for school dinners for 3 children for the month, a MrS shop yesterday for lunch and biscuits (forgot to put them on the delivery drrrrr) plus £17.50 for a pizza takeaway treat last night. Phew!!

It's looking scary, but I have to say I'm up for the challenge! The snow certainly helped me to stay away from the shops during Jan. I walked to MrT several times and only got what I went in for.

Big hugs to all that need them and hope the op goes well greent.

    Coxy

  • Finally managed to stay within a budget :j!!!

My February budget is £300. Given that a week of that is half term, I'm hoping I will have time to batch cook lots and spend less than that.
  • hi s and s,
my daughter was prem too. we were referred to the dietician (as she was tiny) and got prescription build up baby formula, getting the 2 boxes home of 6 full sized cannisters each time we cashed a script was fun but it was free.
I can't remember back now to when she went onto cows milk..
    nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.
  • may i set £180 as my budget for month of feb please. I still haven't got to the finish line for January challenge but have started changing my habits, we went to the cinema on friday and took our refreshments, as we did when we went on daytrip yesterday (dd enjoyed 'meals on wheels' in the car for the last half hour of the drive to the castle), then full 5 hours at castle with drinks and sweets from our bag, rather than eating there. Had tesco clubcard vouchers for pizza or hungry horse on the way home but didn't find one local enough, but tea at Toby carvery was fantastic, £20.70 for two adults and a child for roast dinner and drinks (adult portion about £5.50 before 7pm).
Had an approved foods delivery this month which has helped, with treat things for trips out and treats at home, and very cheap cola for my addiction (still not as cheap as lidl but good for when i have guests that like 'the real thing'.

Well done everyone, thanks for all the info and support on this thread, it has kept me focused.

Update on spends. Was in Aldi today so picked up some fruit as it was a good price. Also had a small shop in Asda as I didn't fancy cooking tonight. Total now stands at £153.70 so that's me £3.70 over budget.

I shouldn't have to spend any more before Thursday but then I will be taking advantage of my last M&S voucher so that will be another £20. Hopefully my overspend will be around the £25 mark which I will be pleased about as this is my first month of really recording my spends and also I bagged lots of good whoopsies earlier this month.
  • Evening all,

Thanks for the advice Howlinwolf, Peetzl39 and Poppy-glos. We have swapped dd bedtime formula to cows milk last couple of nights and she has been fine and slept same as usual so yay!

Went whoopsie shopping for bread in Mr M today, but very disappointed, hardly any decent whoopsies considering nearly closing on a Sunday. Got a few things though, including 10kg sack of spuds, milk, marge, teabags and two whoopsied granary baguettes and couple of whoopsied pastries.

Spent £12.04 so not too bad. Shouldnt have bought the whoopsied pastries-bakery family steak pie and sausage rolls but you know...

Also got some painkillers and vitamins from Superdrug today but not using GC money.

I think im nearing my budget limit now and am very keen to see if i can make it. Am sure i will as i have no room in my fridge and no need to buy anything. My GC runs to 28th for ease, but supposed to get paid from new job Tues (please, please, please! Not Feb i hope!)

Have an idea of my Feb budget but will have to see what Tues brings (or doesnt!) Am trying to run down at least one of my (three:o) freezers and defrost it so intend using some of Feb budget to stock it back up and split cost between between Feb and March, will see.

    Phew will shut up now!

    Good night all x
  • I love pork, I would do the leftovers in a sweet and sour, or even a curry, or just in another roast dinner type meal. Also sandwiches or salad or in a pasta bake

Took DD2 shopping in sainsbugs this afternoon (she is totally skint this week as only had 1 days work last week so I said I'd treat her to some groceries) Got loads of offers and basics.

Then we went to waitrose to wander among the affluent:rotfl:

Got some brilliant woopsies in waitrose, including warbutons bread (paper wrapped) 19p, but it is on 2 for £2 so they took 70p off for a 36p spend:D We only boought 4 loaves, wish we'd bought more cos they had loads. As it was 2pm and we hadn't had lunch we also got some sarnies for 39p and egg custards 19p for 2. Shame it is so far away from us as 2pm on a Sunday afternoon is obviously the time to be there.

Dinner tonight was meat from the freezer (Xmas dinner leftovers), jackets (from aldi and they were lush), and veg. Both OH and I are both stuffed.

I only have 96p left of my Jan GC money so I think I will be going over by a couple of pounds (though I don't really need anything before my Feb starts on Thursday). But I will be in Asda on Tuesday to take DD home so I usually get seduced by something:D
